Duties

Summary

This position is in the Logistics Department at the Sheridan Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC) in Sheridan Wyoming. The incumbent serves as a Mail/reproduction clerk supporting the entire Sheridan VAMC through assignments by Logistics Leadership.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Provides mail-postal services.
  • Provides oversight to mail procurements and contracting services.
  • Sorting and distributing all incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Metering all outgoing mail in a timely and cost efficient manner.
  • Knowledgeable of all USPS terminology and policies.
  • Provides first rate customer service.
  • Complies with all JC regulations and policies.
  • Protects confidentiality of mail items.
  • Monitors the LEAF portal and responds as accordingly.
  • Enter proper work orders as needed for repair and maintenance of buildings.
  • Enter 2237s as needed for ordering supplies.
  • Maintains a thorough, comprehensive knowledge of governing policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Operates a variety of duplicating equipment.
  • Filing reproduction requests.
  • Amends or rejects work as needed to meet established standards.

    You may qualify based on your experience and/or education s described below:General Experience: You must have one year of general experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-03 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of general experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Sorting and distributing all incoming and outgoing mail; Protects confidentiality of mail items; Operates a variety of duplicating equipment; Provides first rate customer service; Knowledgeable of all USPS terminology and policies.OR,Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have two (2) years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.OR,Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of general experience and education beyond high school. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. (i.e. 6 months of general experience and 1 year of education above the high school level).

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.Physical Demands: Work is performed mostly inside while sitting or standing with minor stooping and/or lifting up to

    50 pounds. Work requires constant walking within facility. The specialist must frequently work at a rapid pace for extended periods of time; some tasks will require long or short periods of sitting at times, physically challenging and some physical efforts may be required.Work Environment: Work is generally performed in an office setting with adequate light, heat, and ventilation, employee will be responsible for building accessibility so the U.S. mail truck pick-up and outgoing mail can be picked-up without delay. Outside exposes incumbent to all types of inclement weather, i.e. heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, etc. The reproduction work area is normally performed in an office setting where the machinery used produces high noise levels and the specialist must be alert to safety precautions when around machinery to avoid injuries. This work area is typically adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. The office and production areas are to be kept clean and without

    debris, keeping all exits open.
