Maintenance Mechanic

International Wire located in Jordan, NY is searching for a Maintenance Mechanic to repair and maintain mechanical equipment and machines. The position is responsible for completion of daily work assignments, maintain records, provide assistance to co-workers and maintain a clean, safe and organized environment.

Perform standard responsibilities as a Maintenance Mechanic to include:

Repair and maintain mechanical equipment and machines

Electrical repairs as needed

Assist in developing preventive and corrective maintenance programs

Complete daily work assignments in a time and accurate manner

Maintain complete records of daily maintenance activities

Maintain work area clean, safe and organized

Operate maintenance equipment safely to avoid accidents

Maintain the maintenance tools and equipment in safe, clean and good working conditions

Provide assistance to co-workers when needed

Complete all work instructions (work orders) and forms relating to maintenance, safety, and preventive maintenance while observing all safety operating procedures.

Ability to work off-shift requirements including: periodic emergency call out during off shift, including weekends and holidays.

Communicate effectively between shifts and other departments, including status of equipment to supervisors/coworkers at end of shifts as well as log book documentation.

Responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing mechanical malfunctions to increase productivity and equipment capabilities – including, but not limited to disassembling and reassembling machinery, overhauling gearboxes, replace bearings/bushing/etc.

Read blueprints, schematics and diagrams to determine the method and sequence of assembly of a part, machine or piece of equipment.

Adhere to company policies, safety regulations and OSHA requirements

Perform maintenance tasks based on pictures, blueprints, written descriptions and oral instructions from Supervisors or Managers.

Teamwork:

Daily communication with Maintenance Manager to be sure objectives are met.

Support and comply with company policies and procedures as applicable.

Demonstrate a positive and supportive attitude.

Qualifications and Skills

Qualifications and Skills include:

3 years’ of relevant experience in manufacturing environment preferred

Electrical and mechanical repairs

Associates’ degree or relevant experience in a manufacturing environment

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, manufacturer’s literature, diagrams or schematics.

Knowledge of and skilled in the use of root cause analysis, troubleshooting methodology, 5S and lean manufacturing concepts

Knowledge of OSHA general safety regulations; PPE, energy control, confined space, chemical safety, fall protection

Attention to detail

Have disciplined aptitude for repair and uptime urgency

60%-70% of time spent on the shop floor

Physical Requirements:

The employee is regularly required to talk and hear
