What We're Looking For

Mechanical Designers will collaborate with engineering, sales, and production to create new product / component designs and support our current customer orders. Team Members will be responsible for building SolidWorks models, creating item numbers, constructing bills of materials (BOM's) and supporting the Engineering Change Request (ECR) / Engineering Change Order (ECO) Team members will also ensure a clean, safe working environment, be a team player, perform quality work, be available until work is done, and know and understand the policies, procedures and processes of EMIT.Key responsibilities include:

  • Utilize SolidWorks to create models for new products, for customized customer solutions, and to update existing product documentation as part of EMIT's continuous improvement process.
  • Produce engineering drawings, BOM's and other documents as required.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with sales and production to define product and/or system requirements.
  • Design custom layouts that maximize the use of existing designs while also meeting approved specifications.
  • Support the testing of new design concepts and assist with development of test fixtures.
  • Update the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System based on ECO's and new releases.
  • Interface with suppliers, inspection, and production to ensure parts conform to specifications.
  • Manage digital and physical print archives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Table

Required Skills

  • Associates Degree or similar certification
  • Minimum three years related work experience.
  • Expert in SolidWorks 2018 Edition or newer.
  • Proficient if Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with Product Data Management (PDM).
  • Ability to create top-down and configured assemblies.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems preferred.
  • Experience with DriveWorks a plus.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes a plus.
  • Familiar with New Product Development (NPD) processes a plus.
