Role Description

The Global Steel Demand Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining the demand plan and forecasting activities associated within the Global Steel division. The Demand Planning Manager will operate in a highly cross-functional team environment involving Supply Chain, Sales/Marketing, Engineering and Finance to provide reliable and timely demand plans.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Will serve as key member in supporting the WireCo’s Integrated Business Process (“IBP”), the business process WireCO uses to manage Demand, Supply and Inventory Planning decisions
  • Lead and direct the Demand Planning analytics for Global Steel Wire Rope, EMC and Wire Business Markets
  • Drive volume consensus with the Commercial organization to deliver an unconstrained demand plan forecast.
  • Create/Review/ValidateDemand Signal for rolling 6-12-24-month horizons
  • Establish and utilize best methods (statistical models and software tools) in creating forecasts at the product group and end market level, utilizing statistical algorithms
  • Analyzes historical sales trends to support baseline forecast assumptions
  • Continuously improve forecasts through evaluation of macro and micro industrial activity, inventory changes, consumptions trends, category trends, or extended service level impacts
  • Proactively communicate critical changes to downstream supply chain partners
  • Own and continually improve the Demand Alignment meeting through a detailed time sensitive process that compliments the existing business team format and financial planning processes
  • Develop scenarios with risk assessments and recommended actions to meet shipment targets
  • Prepare, monitor and publish forecast KPI’s on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, taking corrective actions as necessary
  • Monitor orders vs. estimates on a monthly basis, responding to exceptions with collaborative discussions and addressing monthly plan revisions accordingly
  • Will champion necessary ERP system data maintenance to standardize and streamline planning efforts, reporting and decision making

Qualifications

Requirement Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Supply Chain, Business Management (Accounting, Finance) or Math)
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must have a manufacturing planning background defined by 3 years of experience.
  • Demonstrable problem-solving capability, quantitative and analytical skills
  • Self-starter with strong desire to learn, ability to multi-task, and focus on details
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills at all levels of organization
  • Ability to manage complex large data sets to interpret operating results for reporting to management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a drive to deliver outstanding results with a positive attitude towards work and challenge
  • Candidate must be comfortable with MS Excel & PowerPoint

Preference Qualifications

  • APICS certification preferred
  • Background with financial statements and accounting

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including verification of past employment, criminal history and educational background
  • Must be willing and able to pass a post-offer drug screen and physical (if required)
