This is aPart-time position. 3:00p-6:00pm

We provide Flexible Hours and Schedules

Meals are included with full time shifts

Under the close supervision of the Dietary Manager, incumbent is responsible for creating an enjoyable dining experience for our residents and their guests. Follows established order and style of serving in the HCU Dining Room.

Essential Duties:

  • Must be familiar with modified diets.

  • Is involved in ensuring the nutritional adequacy through serving food as indicated on modified diets, as well as providing feedback from residents to the Dietary Manager and Dietician, on nutritional problems.

  • Follows all safety and sanitation rules and regulations.

  • Performs side jobs.

  • Modifies food consistency to meet individual needs.

  • Trains new employees as instructed.

  • Attends all in-service training to ensure that all rules and regulations are being followed.

  • Will be an active part in revising and implementing rules and new regulations as they come into play.

  • Responsible for cleaning, bussing and resetting of dishes.

  • Maintains a clean, neat appearance.

  • Assist residents with seating and satisfactory handling of situations as they arise.

  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by lead dietary aide or supervisor.

  • Ensure the dining experience is pleasant and enjoyable through cheerful behavior and by properly following established procedures for style and order of service.

  • Ensuring that nutritional adequacy is provided by following established procedures and providing appropriate feedback to supervisor.

  • Follows all Federal, State and County regulations and codes regarding food - procedures and sanitation by following established guidelines.

  • Ensures that the training duties provide new servers with optimum skills and knowledge in order to perform in the Health Care Dining Room and reinforces those skills.

  • Ensures that we meet county and state regulations as reflected in inspections.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of proper dining room service, sanitation, and safety procedures.

  • Possess the ability to follow instruction, work well with others, and maintain a good rapport its residents.

  • Possess the ability to cope with the extensive needs of older persons with, ie., physical handicap and/or varying degrees of disorientation.

  • Must be able to work independently.

  • Posses the ability to take direction and to carry it out effectively.

  • Posses the ability to follow direction of Dietician and Nursing Personnel.

  • Posses the ability to perform well during state and county inspections.

  • General knowledge of alterations of food.

  • Knows proper OBRA regulations to maintain sanitation of the kitchen.

  • Has basic knowledge if HACCAP.

  • Has general knowledge of Universal Precautions.

  • Has general knowledge of OSHA regulation.

  • Must know the difference in modified diets.

  • Covered by standard policies and procedures.

  • Refers customer complaints to supervisor.

  • Must have the latitude to individualize each resident’s needs.

  • Actively participates in required meetings, arriving on time unless prior arrangements have been made.

  • Takes initiative in performing job as evidenced by offering new ideas solutions, informing supervisor of potential problems/hazards, using time, equipment, and supplies efficiently, assuming extra duties willingly, and participating in educational programs to keep abreast of new developments, procedures, and technologies.
