Director of Human Resources Job Description

Job Title: Director of Human Resources

Department: Administration

Position Summary: The Director of Human Resources manages the human resource functions of Wyoming Catholic College. In addition to these responsibilities, the Director of Human Resources will be responsible for chairing the College’s Risk Management Committee and overseeing the Information Technology Department.

Essential Functions/Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Human Resources

    • Maintain appropriate records and documentation of all College employees.
    • Manage the job search function of the College. This includes: creating the job description with the help of the particular search committee, posting for the position, managing and advertising for the job, collecting applications, sorting applications for basic qualifications, bringing qualified applications to the search committee, and setting up interviews and visits.
    • Create faculty contracts and understandings of employment.
    • Coordinate the onboarding process. This includes: helping answer questions about moving to Lander, completing new employee paperwork, explaining benefits, coordinating job specific equipment and supplies needed by the new employee, introducing new employees to Lander and to the College, and running new employee orientation.
    • Manage employee benefit programs (health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, SIMPLE retirement plan et al).
    • Track vacation and sick time.
    • Arrange office assignments and appropriate signage.
    • Work with the Finance and Accounting office to confirm employees are being paid their correct wage and any raises or bonuses are included.
    • Ensure that the College is in compliance with human resource law (i.e. FMLA, Workers comp, etc.).
    • Direct student work study program. This includes: working with supervisors to determine how many student workers are needed, assigning student jobs, navigating any conflicts between students and supervisors, handling work study disciplinary matters, tracking student work hours, and coordinating with students seeing outside the College employment.
    • Coordinate the exit process. This includes: departure paperwork and documentation, exit interviews, collecting any College belongings in possession of the employee (keys, credit card, etc.).
    • Edit Employee Handbook, Staff Handbook, and Organizational Structure document on an annual basis, as well as when changes become necessary mid-year. Keep the policies in line with current operations of the College. Propose additional policies as needed.
  • Risk Management

    • Chair the Risk Management Committee
    • Schedule quarterly meetings of the Risk Management Committee.
    • Ensure that tasks assigned during previous risk management meetings are completed on time.
    • Review all incident reports and determine which issues need to be brought to the Committee.
    • Review College’s insurance policy and waivers to ensure they remain aligned with the activities of the College.
  • Information Technology

    • Manage the Director of IT and any IT interns.
    • Manage the Information Technology budget in conjunction with the Director of IT.
    • Ensure that the particular technology needs of the College based on the technology policy are being met. This will include making sure that the dorm phones are operational and that the internet filters are in place.
