Summary/Objective

The Foundation Coordinator will lead the process for all organization foundation applications; including, writing, extensive research, and written proposals to various foundations and agencies for Volunteers of America Northern Rockies. The Foundation Coordinator will work closely with the Grant Specialist and administrative teams to prepare program funding applications.

Essential Functions

  • Taking the lead with scheduling, driving timelines, funding activities, and various duties related to the completion of foundation applications.
  • Working with senior leadership to identify needed funding and targeting related opportunities.
  • Ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple grant schedules concurrently to meet deadlines.
  • Providing donor database, tracking information, and scheduling of application timelines.
  • Maintaining a schedule for reporting requirements and final close-out activities for foundations.
  • Meeting application deadlines and ensures timely, comprehensive application submissions.
  • Maintaining open and professional communications with funding sources.
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records of applications, proposals, and funding requirements.
  • Conducting research, database searches, and use a wide variety of written, electronic, and public contact resources to access potential funding sources.
  • Possess knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of the grant research and writing process.
  • Ability to assimilate information quickly and concisely and complete grant proposals on time.
  • Assist the grant specialist as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Little to no travel is expected for this position.

Required Education, Experience, or Eligibility Qualifications

  • Associates degree in a related area and at least three years of work experience in development and grant writing, prospect research, or equivalent combination of education and experience .
  • Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the grant writing field.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to adapt writing style as appropriate to VOA's specific relationship with funders.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as creativity, resourcefulness, and humor.
  • Excellent research skills, preferably with experience in researching foundations and corporate donors using online databases and the Internet.
  • Proficiency in basic software applications is required, including spreadsheets, Google, etc.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in a related area and at least three years of work experience in development and grant writing, prospect research, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
