Union Mission, a non-profit faith-based organization, has an immediate opening for a full-time Development Relations Coordinator
Job: To uphold genuine relationships with current donors and lapsed donors. Connect donors with giving opportunities according to their interests and passions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop relationships with lapsed donors and current donors through lunch meetings, personal visits, telephone calls, momentous cards, and mail/e-mail
- Offer prayer with and for donors on a regular basis
- Make personal solicitation of donations when appropriate
- Invite donors to Union Mission events and activities
- Utilize personal interests or talents to enrich donor relationships (E.g. baked goods, customized greeting cards, sporting events, volunteering, church socials, etc.)
- Respond sensitively to upset donor communications after collaborating with Director of Development
- Keep donor records updated on the Raiser’s Edge system application with donor preferences, life events, such as marriage, deaths, births, and so forth
- Manage Union Mission participation in the Neighborhood Investment Program (NIP)
- Research, propose, and develop new public relations initiatives
- Prepare a weekly typed summary report on donor activity and potential forthcoming donor interactions
- Attend seminars and training events as needed, such as the NIP FY 2020 Mandatory Workshop to stay current on information pertinent to job responsibilities
- Assist as needed with other departmental responsibilities
Skills and Abilities:
- Skills to communicate professionally through verbal and written business communication, including style/format of letters, memorandums, and reports
- Skills to use a personal computer running Office 365 and various software packages including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to learn new software packages quickly, most notably Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge
- Ability to comfortably and respectfully solicit donations
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision
- Ability to converse at length with donors
- Ability to remain calm and reassuring when dealing with upset donors
- Ability to be discreet with confidential information
- Ability to pass a pre-employment or for cause drug test
- Ability to pass criminal background check
Credentials and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; associate degree accepted
- Two years related experience preferred; equivalent education or training accepted
Special Requirements: Willing to occasionally work evenings and weekends as needed for home/hospital visits or dinner meetings; adjusting time accordingly. Must have and maintain a valid driver license.

Organizational Relationship: The Development Relations Coordinator reports to the Director of Development, who is in turn accountable to the Administration.
