A landscaping business is expanding and looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team to help with gardening and landscaping duties. The expected work-load will be 32 to 64 hours per month (8-16 hours per week) and may increase depending on client demand. This is a part-time seasonal position with flexible work hours. The job runs from the beginning of May to the end of October.
We are a small, sustainably focused full service landscaping company providing landscape planning, design, restoration, installation and maintenance services within Durango and the Four Corners Region.
Job duties include: assistance with plant maintenance and installation.
Landscape installation work involves installing trees, shrubs and flowers. Installation of hardscaping such as patios and/or pathways as well as edging and accent rocks/boulders. Prep work such as grading, removing existing plant and landscaping material will also be required. This specific position requires use of heavy machinery including a fork lift and skid steer.
Landscape maintenance work involves pruning, deadheading, upkeep of plant beds, weeding, fertilizing installing annual plants and flowers, amending soil, applying mulch, running errands, picking up or ordering supplies, and assisting with other landscaping duties as needed.
Additional Job Responsibilities:
Supervise 2-3 members of the field crew staff.
Regularly interface with staff, vendors, subcontractors and clients
Uphold safety and landscaping protocols out in the field
Provide regular updates to crew, management and the owner
Ensure high quality execution and service
Order and/or place holds on materials and supplies in a timely manner
Submit daily project reports to management
Landscaping work requires frequent bending, shoveling, lifting heavy items and exposure to inclement weather.
This job is ideal for someone that already has a part-time job but wants additional hours. The work will vary from week to week so one week you may be doing maintenance work and the next week you'll be helping with landscape installation work but you are guaranteed at least 8 hours per week and possibly more. You can pick the days of the week that are best for you.

Qualifications
Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent
Must have at least 2 years of prior landscaping experience
Must have experience operating heavy landscaping equipment such as a fork lift, skid steer, mini-ex, mini-skid and know how to use and install their attachments.
Must be familiar with loading and transporting plant and landscaping materials
Must have prior experience planting trees
Must have experience installing patios, pathways and edging
Familiarity with reading and interpreting landscape design drawings and construction documents
Experience and knowledge of landscaping practices and plants for this area.
Some experience with grading and drainage and understanding slope
