The Hartford's Enterprise Data Office (EDO) goal is to achieve greater business value through the use of data by simplifying the architecture, standardizing process and tools and building a data culture across the enterprise. The Data Architecture Practice within the Chief Data Office is looking for a Senior Data Architect to support line of business initiatives." The Data Architecture organization is The Hartford's trusted data advisor, guiding the transformation of data into customer value by understanding what is possible, determining what is feasible, and helping make it real." Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain current and target state data architectures, define strategy and roadmaps to guide transformation
  • Define and enforce data architecture standards, procedures, metrics, and policies to ensure consistency across the portfolio
  • Translate advanced business analytics problems into technical and data design approaches that deliver outcomes for stakeholders
  • Guide development teams in data design of complex solutions and ensure alignment with the data architecture principles, standards, strategies, and target states.
  • Partner with business information architects to understand the business use cases that support and fulfill business and data strategy
  • Define reference and solution architectures that support cloud initiatives, big data and data lake use cases, and traditional data platforms
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to drive adoption of patterns and technologies advancing the target state while balancing business needs
  • Present architecture deliverables to stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant professional experience in Financial Services - Insurance and Investment domains preferred,
  • Mastery level Data Architecture skills - a deep understanding of data architecture patterns, data warehouse, integration, APIs, data lake, and cloud technology capabilities
  • Architecture and design experience with AWS Cloud based data storage, processing, and publishing technologies; previous experience with hybrid cloud architecture a plus
  • Experience in data management, data modeling, business intelligence, master data management, metadata management concepts, and ETL tools (Talend, Apache NiFi) and frameworks
  • Applied experience in Agile development processes (SCRUM & Kanban)
  • Experience with large-scale data platforms using Big Data, cloud, and RDBMS technologies, such as Spark, Scala, Hadoop, EMR, Oracle, SQL Server, SQL, and NoSQL
  • Working knowledge of event driven architectures, streaming, and queue processing
  • Portfolio delivery experience in full software lifecycle from planning to delivery, with an understanding of DevSecOps principles
  • Ability to independently learn new technologies and data related approaches and educate technical teams on the same
  • CFA Foundations certification, aka "Claritas", a plus
  • Working knowledge of Industry Standard conceptual models like IAA/IIW, ACORD, FIBO is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
