Due to covid, work is performed remote currently, but when offices open, the candidate will be required to work at the office location a few days a week.-6 month contract-to-hireThis is mostly an experienced QA role with data verifications skills but someone with some level of business analysis experience is valuable.Softworld's client is looking for an experienced QA Analyst with business analysis and strong analytical skills and understanding of databases to join our team, which support the NEDSS (National Electronic Disease Surveillance System) project for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Quality Assurance Analyst must be skilled in problem solving, communication and analysis. For this project, we develop, maintain, and support the NBS (NEDSS Base System), a web-based disease surveillance system used by public health jurisdictions to collect and analyze disease occurrence data, as well as to report this data to the CDC. Team members support key processes in the development and support of the NBS application using an Agile development process.The QA/Business Analyst will plan, coordinate, analyze and develop test plans, scripts, test cases and test data for functional testing ensuring that the requirements are met.Translate functional requirements and specifications into documented test plansExecute functional test plans manually and conduct explatory testingBackend database testing in Microsoft SQL Server environments including validating stored procedures, jobs and triggersIdentify potential quality issues and escalate/report issues in a timely mannerEnsure software deliverables are meeting functional specifications and requirementsAnalyze business and technical processes to formulate and develop new and modified business information processing systems.Represent the business unit to define requirements and business cases for the technology developments.Coordinate with business and technology teams ascertaining system requirements, such as program functions, output requirements, input data acquisition, execution of user acceptance and coordinate testing, and system techniques and controls.Utilize knowledge of computer system capabilities, business processes, and workflow.Draft system process flowsFacilitate/coordinate requirement gathering sessions with partners, O&M, Client Stakeholders - Prepare high-level requirements for the extended teamCreate and track QA reports; Review and ensure that the verification and validation was in accordance to the system, functional, and product requirements and ensure the requirements traceability matrix is updatedWork with Client to prepare system documentation needed for the projectQUALIFICATIONS:Required skills and experience:Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience. (Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related area is preferred)5+ years of relevant QA experience in software development5+ years of experience in database testing in Microsoft SQL Server environments including creating and manipulating test dataStrong understanding of database structures and designExperience in documenting testing processesExperience testing in agile teams and java based application systemsIn depth experience working amongst development teams, project management and stakeholdersExperience writing and executing SQL query commandsExtensive experience with Microsoft ExcelDesired skills and experience:Experience with Microsoft SQL Server database environmentsExperience working in an Agile development team is preferredExperience in converting from manual test cases to automated test scripts (Selenium) is a plusExperience in creating and executing test of ETL/SSIS processesSuperior technical documentation skillsSkills and Attributes:Excellent listening and interpersonal skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detail and requirementsMotivated team player THIRD PARTY AGENCIES, SUBCONTRACTORS, AND RECRUITERS NEED NOT APPLY.
