The Avery Dennison Label and Graphic Materials Group North America is looking for a Quality Manager to join the team at our manufacturing site in Lowell, Indiana.

The Quality Manager is a member of the Plant Leadership Team reporting to Plant Manager.

In this role you will be responsible for planning and directing the activities of the Quality Team and key initiatives for the facility. This role often calls for the derivation and application of new or outstanding approaches. The Quality Manager will partner with the technical teams to formulate quality improvement of both existing and new products and processes. You will facilitate the transfer of technologies throughout various areas of the organization, evaluate new products, review and analyze technical literature and stay current on related issues and technical data.

Your primary responsibilities and essential functions include:

  • Lead, coach and develop quality team members to achieve peak performance.
  • Develop and drive a culture of continuous improvement and outstanding quality
  • Build a team operating plan by establishing key Quality KPI’s with measurable goals that will drive improvement as a supplier of cast film partnering with internal customers in the Avery Dennison network
  • Use customer feedback (internal & external) to develop and lead a plant quality strategy
  • Develop and implement plant projects to improve process control & quality and reduce defects. Work includes data collection and analysis, development of processes, training, standard methodology translation, review/audits, and the development of new test methods.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams & collaborate with all functions, levels of the organization, customers and suppliers.
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with quality assurance programs, policies, processes, and procedures under ISO 9001:2015.
  • Interact regularly with engineering, manufacturing and R&D functions to establish quality standards for raw material, work in process and finished products and ensure sufficient process capability to consistently meet those standards.
  • Develop control methods for sustaining process improvement.
  • Collaborate with all levels and functions of the organization from Procurement, to Operations, to Sales to resolve customer related issues.
  • Provide ongoing process evaluation, including trials and capability studies and approve site specification changes.
  • Deliver short-term and-long term results in order to develop and maintain the organization's credibility with the business

Other Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate problem solving activities, including customer, supplier, and Avery Dennison participants.
  • Participate and/or lead Enterprise Lean Sigma and Six Sigma activities.
  • Identify and analyze problems using DMAIC and other similar methods.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in chemical, mechanical, industrial engineering material sciences or related area required.
  • 5+ years experience in a people leadership role and within a quality or operations function.
  • Demonstrated experience managing policies, procedures, process, programs, and practices under ISO 9001 (or a similar quality system) to ensure continuous improvement, conformance and efficiency of Quality System.
  • Strong statistical analysis and problem solving skills. Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with effective Corrective and Preventive Action processes to ensure process improvement and auditing results.
  • Able to quickly acclimate to complex organization: build and develop functional relationships, gain knowledge of products, develop analytical and reporting skills, learn multiple computer-based quality, inventory, and internet/ intranet applications.
