If you are looking for an opportunity to grow and contribute in a fun, industry-disruptive, fast-paced environment, Aperio is the place for you.About This RoleThis position plays a key role in developing and maintaining our investment technology base and delivering new platform functionalities. You will be responsible for maintaining, extending, and developing our data processes, from ingestion to ETL to presentation. You will be responsible for design, implementation, and maintenance of all aspects of our data infrastructure with a focus on data integrity and security.This position is roughly 25% database administration, 50% data process development, and 25% other tasks.Our headquarters is in Sausalito, California, only one block from the beautiful harbor. It's a short, 20-minute drive from much of San Francisco. We are looking for talented individuals in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as nationwide as a remote opportunity. If not local, when travel is permitted, team members are expected to visit the office periodically for training and to work with the core onsite team.Key ResponsibilitiesWork with the Systems Architect and other stakeholders to create high-performance, extensible data models/database structures to facilitate project requirements and new requests for data. This function includes but is not limited to:
  • Designing and implementing data ingestion processes: selecting data vendors, implementing data ingestion and ETL processes
  • Developing data infrastructure: data flow design, data warehouses and databases, data archiving strategy
  • Maintaining data infrastructure: monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, backups
  • Monitoring data lifecycle and security processes
  • Maintaining and refactoring legacy schemas
  • Handling data presentation through various systems: business applications, business intelligence platforms, client reporting applications, research applications
  • Assisting Application Developers with the creation of queries and database functions; providing guidance on performance and optimization
  • Identifying and applying proactive solutions and corrective measures to minimize downtime
  • Creating and maintaining scripts to automate common operations and maintenance tasks
  • Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Seven-plus years of database development experience supporting application development teams/projects
  • Expert SQL writing and query optimization skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate and follow up effectively and professionally with other business departments
  • Related experience in the financial or investment sector highly desirable
  • Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL VERY highly preferred
  • Solid understanding of, or experience with, DBA tasks supporting relational databases in an enterprise environment, including PostgreSQL 9.6 or higher
  • Proficiency in data modeling and enterprise database concepts
  • Solid experience with ETL job development and maintenance preferred
  • Python (or other programming languages) development experience desirable
  • AWS environment experience desirable
