We hire the best people and provide them with a work environment that places a premium on diversity, integrity, collaboration and personal development.Drug Product Development (DPD) is a diverse group of scientists and engineers, providing critical support for small and large molecule modalities. Engineering Technologies Group in DPD provides specialized support for fostering new technology and collaboration with project teams on unique challenges. Through experimental design, material science, process engineering, and predictive modeling, you will develop new technologies and methodologies that can produce drug substance and drug product with desired physical properties, in some cases, generating tailored attributes not accessible through batch processing. This role will advance and apply state-of-the-art pharmaceutical processing techniques as well as enhance the understanding of product development.Position responsibilities" Designing, developing and performing batch and continuous predictive models and characterizing these processes through a variety of in-line and off-line predictive tools." Establishing an appropriate control strategy and optimizing processes to achieve product with desired attributes at manufacturing scales." Developing robust process models to identify, characterize, and predict the variables that impact product attributes" Working with project teams to understand, prioritize, and address development needs" Participate in evaluation of external collaborations to support cutting edge modeling tools" Act as a mentor to junior staff" Present analyses and results to technical and non-technical audiences" Represent in external scientific forums and through publicationsMin Qualifications" Ph.D. in chemical engineering or materials science & engineering with less than 3 years of Postdoctoral experience" Required experience developing and utilizing mechanistic models of physical systems (e.g. Discrete Element Method, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Finite Element Method, Lattice Boltzmann, process simulation, mass and energy conservation)Additional Qualifications:" Working knowledge of pharmaceutical unit operations for drug product manufacturing (e.g. crystallization, mixing, milling, granulation, powder rheology, tablet compression and coating) a plus." Desired knowledge of one or more programming languages, with a focus on data analysis and modeling (e.g., Python, R, Julia, Matlab, Stan, C/C)" Desired experience with Data Analytics, Data Science, and/or Machine Learning technologies (e.g. Tableau, AWS, Linux shell, SQL, Jupyter, Tensorflow, Pytorch)" Strong analytical and problem solving skills to understand technical business problems and implement solutions" Ability to work effectively on matrixed teams to collaboratively solve challenging problems, while also able to work independently with minimal oversight" Has good interpersonal, communication, writing and organizational skills" Ability to summarize technically/analytically complex information for a non-technical audienceAround the world, we are passionate about making an impact on the lives of patients with serious diseases.
