RESPONSIBILITIES:Kforce's client, a growing engineering technology company in the San Marcos, CA area is seeking a Principal Firmware Design Engineer. We are working directly with the Hiring Manager.Responsibilities: Will be responsible for the design and development of custom equipment, including bare metal firmware design and development, and other electro-mechanical assemblies Will work on multidisciplinary project teams during initial feasibility, design and development, design transfer and continued post release maintenance Analysis, design, simulation, quick prototype, and debug of electrical circuits and firmware of complex embedded systems Performs laboratory measurements, analyzes data, and generates conclusions about system performance to specifications and requirements Solicits, analyzes, and documents engineering requirements; Maintains and updates the requirements and design documentation throughout the entire system life cycle Performs requirements traceability to ensure proper allocation of system requirements to subsystems Creates and performs test cases, protocols and reports for unit integration, and system testing Works cohesively in small teams with experts of different fields (electrical engineers, scientist, clinical experts, etc.) Works under limited guidance; Contributions impact the overall team's objectives Creates innovative and creative solutions to keep projects on-track; Maintains a high degree of quality in all work performed By way of example, sets a precedent for being a positive team memberREQUIREMENTS: BS degree in an electrical Engineering or scientific/engineering discipline or similar field, or 6 years of experience and a Master's degree; Or equivalent combination of education and experience At least 7-10+ years of related work engineering experience Experience in ARM C/C compilers and development systems (Such as Keil, Eclipse or etc.) Knowledge of nested interrupts and real-time embedded designs using ARM-based microcontrollers, particularly STM32 Strong Bare metal firmware design experience is required Familiar with SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet and other interface protocols Familiar with peripherals such as PLL, DDS, ADC, DAC, power supply design and monitoring Some knowledge of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) SoCs and concepts like filters, IQ Demodulation is a plus Familiarity with Analog Sharc Processors is a plus but not required Recent experience in ultrasound or high bandwidth digital audio interfacing is a plus but not required Experience in reading and understanding datasheets, schematics, and embedded code Ability to troubleshoot on bench and in system; Using Oscilloscope, Logic & protocol analyzers Experience with lab test equipment such as oscilloscopes, network analyzer, etc. Demonstrates technical proficiency Previous working experience with state-of-the-art electronic design tools such as schematic capture (Altium, OrCAD) is highly desired PCB Design experience is a plus but not required Experience with system/software tools such as (MATLAB, LabVIEW) is a plus but not required Familiarity with IEC 60601, IEC 62304 is a plusKforce is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
