Truck Driver / Donation Ambassador – Habitat Store
Reports to: Habitat Store Management Team
Full Time: 32 to 40 Hours Per Week
General Responsibilities:
The Driver / Donation Ambassador is responsible for providing an exceptional donor experience through the pick-up and delivery of furniture, household goods and construction materials. The incumbent is required to adhere to Habitat for Humanity in Whatcom County’s policies and procedures, and must be willing to express the mission of Habitat for Humanity and maintain a professional working atmosphere.
Additional responsibilities include enhancing the donor experience through exceptional attentiveness, prompt, friendly service and leading volunteers to assure the efficient day to day operation of the Habitat Store donation receiving area, maintaining the area in a safe, clean and orderly fashion, cleaning and pricing items, and working with the Habitat Store team helping innovate ways to improve sales and profitability.
Expectations:
The ideal candidate will have open availability. Our greatest current need is for Fridays and Saturdays (we are closed on Sundays). Although we are primarily looking for a Truck Driver, this is a diverse position; the candidate will be trained in other areas, and the ideal candidate will be willing to fill in where needed.
Typical Work Activities:
Keep up to date on procedures;
Greet customers, answer questions and provide assistance as needed;
Maintain a clean and orderly delivery truck;
Move items around warehouse as directed by the Habitat Store Management team;
Regularly communicate with managers regarding problems;
Recommend new/better methods of completing assigned tasks as needed.
Physical Demands:
The incumbent will be required to lift up to 50lbs, unassisted, on a regular basis, with frequent bending, squatting, lifting and repetitive motion. The position will occasionally be exposed to the outside environment (e.g., heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, etc.) Work is performed in a public environment and requires the ability to engage customers and donors and represent Habitat for Humanity in a positive way.
Experience:
The incumbent must have a valid WA State driver license, with a clean driving record. You will be required to operate a box truck. Experience working in a retail store environment is desirable. The incumbent must have strong customer service and interpersonal skills, and have the ability to deal with stressful situations and with a wide variety of people. The employee must be dedicated to Habitat for Humanity in Whatcom County’s Mission, and willing to work closely with all staff.
Required Licenses: Valid and clean Washington State Driver's License
