SUPERVISED VISITATION SERVICES

VISITATION SUPERVISOR/FAMILY COURT –Intermittent, backup support to a private practice providing family court-supervised visitation.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Drive to the site where supervision is to take place. Accompany non-custodial parent in their car or drive client's car depending on the nature of the case. (Paid travel time to the site of the visit) Supervise, observe, and notate clients ordered by the court to have visits with their children in either a community or in-home setting. This would include understanding and adhering to the established code of ethics and best practices of the industry; reviewing the intake paperwork and court order to become familiar with the case; communicating with the client making sure they understand the parameters of supervision; facilitating the exchange of the children between parents; remaining with the client and children during the entire visit; being present and observing at all times the client is with the children; taking notes of parent/child interactions; ability to remain neutral and unbiased; compiling a report of the visit based on observations and notes; providing the reports by the required deadline. (PRIMARILY WEEKEND WORK)

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

4-year degree in human services.

Minimum 6 years of direct services with children and families

Preferred 10 years of direct services with children and families.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Familiar with issues of domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health, and child safety

Knowledgeable of effective ways to provide interventions.

Awareness of safety issues around domestic violence and protection orders.

Understanding of basic court procedures.

Experience with either family or juvenile court - a plus, but not required.

SKILLSET:

Work independently.

Provide non-judgmental observations.

Write objective, behaviorally descriptive notes and reports.

Ability to intervene immediately during a visit.

Implement protocols and standards with client

Adhere to best practices and ethical standards

Remain neutral in a high conflict setting

Assure confidentiality

Interest and willingness to learn about family court and divorce cases. (I provide training)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Able to supervise young, active children in the community and in-home settings.

Physically able to keep pace with children and parents for up to 6 hours while taking notes.

Ability to assure the safety of the children, which can require moving quickly.

LOGISTICS:

Reports will be provided in MS Word or Google Docs

Phone needed for work texting and note-taking

Reliable transportation is required.
