Don’t be fooled by our name. We are Yakima Valley School (YVS), but we are a State run skilled nursing facility for adult residents with developmental and intellectual disabilities located on a beautiful park like setting, located in Selah, WA.

We are looking for motivated and energetic CNA’s (Certified Nursing Assistants- here we call them Attendant Counselors) to join our growing team. Most of our current openings are on evening shift. Safety is a top priority at YVS for both residents and staff.

During a typical day you can find yourself doing some of the following:

Provide direct care and active engagement to our residents to maximize their independent living skills.

Teach and assist residents with personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, leisure skills, community awareness, safety skills, and routine household responsibilities depending on the level of assistance needed.

Assist with activities of daily living, physical, social and habilitative skill development while providing choices for self-determination to the best of the resident’s abilities.

Take residents to and from various recreation activities and community appointments.

Provide personal care for both genders.

Use your skills to provide safe, protective interventions in the presence of challenging behaviors.

Your work here at YVS is more than just a job. Our residents are a very special population and you will soon feel like family. We have excellent staff to resident ratio’s that you are unlikely to find in the community (8 residents to 1 staff at most, but usually it is closer to 3 residents to 1 staff).

Since are we a State run nursing facility, we are part of the Department of Social and Health Services. What does this mean for you? GREAT BENEFITS! Starting pay is $16.46/hour and goes up to $21.27/hour.
