JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Production Tech I

Reports To: General Manager

Job Purpose: Assists in a variety of routine duties in the operation and preparation

of equipment and materials.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Performs routine tasks such as cleaning, weighing, and set up for operation, packaging, and mixing of materials.

2. Learns and adheres to safety rules for the work area as it pertains to handling materials and equipment.

3. Operation of a forklift inside production building will be required once trained and certified through GSI.

4. Follows manufacturing procedures and written and verbal work instructions.

5. Perform simple to complex manufacturing or machine operations.

6. Assists in keeping facility clean and supplies stocked throughout the work day.

7. May be required to wear special garments in controlled manufacturing environments which may include synthetic material coveralls, beard covers, bouffant caps, booties and/or powder free gloves.

8. Utilizes computers to enter data associated with order processing.

Minimum Education or Knowledge:

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent

Physical Requirements:

1. Physical ability to lift 50lbs and pass a pre-employment physical

2. Ability to stand for long periods of time

3. Must be able to reach, grab, hold and use hands and arms

4. Must be able to walk from different work stations safely

5. Must be able to see clearly, and have ability to judge distances

Special Requirements:

1. Language Skills

a. Ability to read and write in English

b. Ability to follow instruction

c. Must have general comprehension skills

d. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and procedure manuals

2. Computer Skills

a. Must be able to utilize a computer and understand how to power on, power down and plug in for charging

b. Ability to be comfortable using computer software

3. Mathematical Skills

a. Must be able to comprehend decimals in relation to pounds and grams when displayed on a scale and computer.

4. Reasoning Ability

a. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written work instructions

b. Ability to deal unplanned problems and find resolutions using the tools and training provided by GSI

5. Equipment

a. Must be comfortable being around, handling and working near both large and small pieces of equipment

6. Hazards and Safety

a. This position may expose you to potential accidents of an incapacitating and/or fatal nature

b. Required safety equipment for this position is steel toe boots which shall be provided by the employee. GSI will provide any additional safety equipment required for this position

Work Environment:

1. Environmental Conditions

a. Must be comfortable working in a production environment that may expose the employee to the following;

Working near moving mechanical parts

Exposure to fumes or airborne particles

Toxic or caustic chemicals

Vibration

2. Noise

a. Must be able to handle a work environment that will expose you to intermittent loud noises due to the large manufacturing equipment. Ear protection is provided by GSI.

Work Schedule

GSI works what is considered an “Alternative Work Schedule”. This means that employees work four (4) Nine (9) hour shifts and one (1) four (4) hours shift to end the work week with a forty (40) hour work week.
