The hospital provides a host of technologically-advanced services including Cardiovascular, Neuro, Orthopedic, Bariatric and General Surgery, Interventional Pulmonology and services for Women. Regional holds Joint Commission advanced certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Get with the Guidelines- Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. It is a certified Chest Pain Center, county-designated STEMI (heart attack) Receiving Center, designated Lung Cancer Screening Center, a member of Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ECMO) and is certified by The Joint Commission in Sepsis care. Types of Services: Level II Trauma, Cardiac, Vascular, Neuro, Ortho, General, Urology, ENT OphthalmologyThe Nurse Manager for Surgical Services manages the daily operations and staff functions in Surgical Services. The patients continuum of care from entry to discharge is followed to ensure all patient care needs are being meet. The position assists in developing objectives, policies, and procedures which support the mission, vision and values of the hospital. The position maintains the professional practice standards, customer relations, compliance with accreditation/licensure requirements, personnel and practice in the institution. The position works collaboratively with medical staff, other departments, departmental staff, and serves in a leadership role.LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: BLS, Current CA RN License CNOR, ACLS Education: BSN IS REQUIRED Graduate of accredited Nursing program. Experience:Minimum: At least 5 years experience in the Operating Room and experience with PACU, Endoscopy and Pre-OpRequired: 2-5 years managerial or supervisory experience.(RECENT ACUTE CARE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED)Skills from other units that they feel will prepare the candidate for their unit: Background in OR flow and process improvement. Understanding of OR business models and supply management. Regulatory knowledge of the Perioperative environment, managing people, union environments Special Notes:Orientation Schedule: 3-6 months depending on experienceMonthly Department Volume: 350 OR cases and 150 Endoscopy casesType of culture (management style) of director or on the floor: Patient centered, servant leader. Expect managers to help roll the rocks out of the way of staff and put patients first.Miscellaneous information that will be helpful in identifying qualified candidates: This is a wonderful team who desires some consistency in leadership. They have been through rotation leaders and instead of the normal bad behavior that results they have learned to hold each other accountable and be good peers to each other. Strong charge nurse in the department. She is not interested in the leadership position because she is nearing retirement and she loves the role of a charge nurse.The departments will be undergoing major remodeling over the next couple of years to create new state of the art ORs. We just finished building an ASC and is looking forward to growing our business. We are the only level II trauma facility on the east side of town and the trauma program is very busy. We need a manager who can hold her own and jump in and run a desk if needed. This is not a daily occurrence but some days can be a bit challenging with emergent cases.When the management position was filled we were able to work normal hours and go home by 5pm 90+% of the time.What has and hasnt worked with personality/skill types: Need a self-starter. My plate is extremely full and I will not have a lot of time for mentoring. Staff appreciates collaboration instead of an autocratic person. They are great to work with if you guide them.
