Requisition Number: 213418 Cox Communications is searching for an RF Test Engineer who will plan, perform, document, and analyze detailed testing of Outside Plant (OSP) components and networks in the Atlanta Cox OSP Engineering Lab. You will play a key role in the evaluation and selection of HFC and FTTx products for use in Cox networks. You will support the Cox Corporate Campus HFC network by maintaining the plant and assisting with major redesign/upgrade efforts. Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  • Creates test plans for in-depth testing of HFC and FTTx products and networks, with guidance from Engineering management.
  • Performs product and network testing per test plan, analyzes, documents, and presents the results.
  • Performs testing as needed related to product issues reported by the field, in order to confirm the issue and document it for vendor resolution.
  • Interacts with Vendor representatives on product shortcomings, which may involve identification of weakness, approval of planned corrective action, and verification retest.
  • Assists in the generation of Cox product specification documents, in collaboration with Cox OSP Engineering.
  • Supports the Cox Corporate HFC network by maintaining the plant, resolving any plant related issues, and assisting in redesign/upgrade efforts in order to meet the demands from a variety of user groups. Interacts as needed with the Video Engineering support group that is responsible for signal origination and CPE devices, to help ensure overall network performance

Qualifications: Minimum
  • 5 or more years of experience required in HFC RF/Optical network engineering, with solid knowledge of Optical/RF theory, design, and operation principles.
  • 5 or more years of experience in planning, performing, and documenting testing of HFC products and networks, including optical transmitters, optical receivers, amplifiers, taps, and passives. Some experience with RFoG networks and/or Digital Optical networks is preferred.
  • 5 or more years of experience generating detailed network and/or test set up drawings using Visio.
Preferred
  • BS/BA in related discipline strongly desired (i.e. Electrical Engineering.).
  • Experience in telecommunications industry desired
