Maintenance Technician 2 - 3rd Shift

JOB SUMMARY

Provide maintenance support and repairs to production machinery, computer systems and facility for a 24 hr. / 7-day manufacturing operation. Additionally, performs all the duties of a Maintenance Technician 1 as required.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Support: Respond in a timely manner to all maintenance requests on the production floor. Train production technicians in the proper set-up and copy troubleshooting techniques. Provide training and assistance to production technicians as needed to help maximize production output and minimize downtime through the utilization of proper production techniques and handling practices.

Troubleshooting & Repairs: Effectively diagnose mechanical, electrical, network, and computer hardware/software in assigned area (facility, machinery, equipment, etc.) Make timely and accurate repairs, as necessary, during production Utilize illustrated parts breakdown manuals and operational manuals in the repair, modification and maintenance of equipment.

Preventative Maintenance: Inspect machinery for potential problems on a daily basis. Documents problems and schedules work/repairs as appropriate. Respond to all assigned maintenance work orders in a timely manner. Responsible for performing preventive maintenance (PM) activities in accordance with the preventive maintenance plan. These activities will be recorded using proper PM sheets.

Administrative: Perform inventory control of parts and equipment used from inventory. Inform Supervisor of parts and equipment used from inventory. Record maintenance activities using the proper computer application or paperwork Provide training and coaching to new maintenance technicians and inspects their work.

Housekeeping/Other: Perform housekeeping duties required of maintenance staff including work area clean-up, machine and equipment clean-up, sweeping up after clean-up and various other general housekeeping duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE

  • 1-3 years of related experience.
  • Electro-mechanical experience.

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Associate degree (Preferred)

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURES

  • Preferred Certifications/Licensures: ( Powered Industrial Truck Certification)

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Proficient in performing production equipment preventive maintenance. Able to diagnose equipment faults and malfunctions. Knowledge of OSHA regulations/requirements. Able to identify and perform Level A, B, & C equipment preventive maintenance. Able to read and understand schematics/blueprints. Computer literate: Basic computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet software. Ideal candidates will have experience with Inventory Software, Manufacturing Software, and Order Processing systems. Must demonstrate good time management skills. Plans and organizes daily workflow. Ability to retain knowledge of procedures and processes and understand complex instructions and multi-step procedures. Willingness to attend training classes to learn or enhance skills. Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Ability to organize work, people and materials. Intermediate written and verbal communications skills. Ability to read and interpret documents and write routine reports. Intermediate math skills. Ability to calculate area, circumference, volume, etc. Service-oriented personality. Ability to work independently on nights and weekend shifts. Ability to work a 12-hour rotating work schedule with call-in and overtime duties.

Ability to speak and communicate effectively utilizing the English language preferred. Computer software experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to carry up to 40lbs, push and pull up to 40lbs, twist, stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, climb and grip/grasp throughout the shift. Employees are also required to lift up to 40lbs, squat, and kneel occasionally. Lastly, employees are required to have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
