Cardiology PACS Administrator / Cerner Clinical Application Systems Analyst

Duties:The Cardiology PACS Administrator designs, implements and develops or enhances data and workflow solutions; setting and managing goals, timelines and objectives. Responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Cardiology PACS system(s) which includes monitoring and troubleshooting issues in image workflow, archiving, routing, and data integrity. The Enterprise Cardiology PACS Administrator supports all Cardiology PACS users including managers, supervisors, radiologists, cardiologists, staff, and other imaging customers to ensure optimum functionality, availability, system responsiveness, and integrity of both on-line and archived data for the CPACS.

Responsibilities:
  • Works with Cerner to log SR's to assigned teams to ensure issues are routed for resolution.
  • Responsible for the deployment, support and configuration of the CPACS
  • Works closely with other system departmental personnel, managers and supervisors to ensure the digital image data transfer into the CPACS, RIS validation and exceptions handling including external partners
  • Responsible for the integration of imaging, workflows, data streams from disparate service lines (Cardiology, Vascular, Radiology and other users of imaging services)
  • Ensures the integrity of the imaging database and archiving solution(s)
  • Conducts complete diagnosis of most business problems, factoring in a strong understanding of the imaging technical architecture and network design
  • Stays abreast of infrastructure, technologies, communications, and regulatory requirements associated with diagnostic imaging, interpretation, reporting, and storage
  • Works with vendor representatives to schedule, install, and test upgrades to the imaging environment while coordinating these changes with all affected parties
  • Independently identifies designs, directs, and performs analysis to resolve complex first-time issues including the analysis of technical and economic feasibility of proposed system solutions
  • Leads design sessions by presenting logical statements of business problems and designs, and offering and incorporating ideas
  • Designs projects with broad implications, requiring systems integration of one or more technical platforms
  • Facilitates achieving the organization’s strategic objectives around knowledge sharing, resource sharing and program support for the implementation a clinical application across the organization
  • Analyzes vendor proposals, evaluate build versus buy, and formulate significant components of a project plan. Builds and conduct test plan templates.
  • Facilitates the creation and dissemination of data standards across clinical systems, as needed
  • Supports the escalation of issues and recommended plans of action for resolution and approval to senior management as appropriate
  • Provides imaging project information and communication to stakeholder groups through written status reports, conference calls and presentations
  • Facilitates collection of information regarding existing clinical systems, identifies demand for new imaging systems and supports development of clinical imaging systems strategy
  • Builds and maintains up-to-date knowledge about the processes, strategies and clinical imaging industry trend

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration, public health, health information
  • Familiar with clinical information system applications such as electronic health record, radiology, and/ or PACS required
  • Three (3) years Cardiology PACS Administration experience preferred
  • Seven (7) years’ work experience in the health care environment preferred
  • Understanding of DICOM and HL7 protocols highly desired
  • Clinical background or strong clinical information technology background highly desired
  • Experience working in complex / multi-facility environments preferred
  • General experience in implementing clinical systems preferred
  • Proven project management and/or facilitation experience, including: Planning, Scheduling, Requirements Management, Change Management, meeting facilitation preferred
