Lead Finish Carpenter - 7 years experience

Berrien County custom home builder, Schmidke Construction and Contracting, is looking to fill a full-time Lead Carpenter position with 7+ years in the industry. This is a hands-on role with emphasis on the key skills and requirements below.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A Lead Carpenter is responsible for designating tasks and ensuring that all work is completed with attention to detail, and high level of integrity and skill. You must also work well with others including sub-contractors, homeowners, and coworkers.

KEY SKILLS

Proficient in all aspects of residential carpentry involving: trim work including stair building, siding,

framing, and the like, with emphasis on detail work

Motivation and Professionalism

Able to communicate positively and effectively with homeowners and project partners

Able to aid in supervising and directing other employees, subcontractors, and vendors

Work in parallel with the Project Manager as a team to reach project goals

Forward-thinking and able to problem solve

Able to read and understand blueprints, assist in material take-offs and coordinating job schedules

Capable of working autonomously and efficiently, managing time and prioritizing tasks well

Organized and desires to leave a work-site, shop, and company vehicle tidy

REQUIREMENTS

7+ years of skilled on-site industry experience

Capable of installing high-end finish carpentry with minimal direction

Own at least minimal hand tools and bags, company van and tools available

General construction knowledge in all areas of industry

Previous estimating and material ordering experience a plus but not a necessity

Must be on time and have reliable transportation

Consistent work ethic and positive attitude

Must pass random drug testing
