Peraton is seeking a highly motivated Network Technician to provide operations, maintenance and sustainment support for networks, LANs/WANs and telecommunications equipment and systems associated with the Eastern Western Operational Communications Services (EWOCS) Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Contract in Vandenberg, CA. EWOCS provides comprehensive IT services provides a comprehensive suite of IT services for customers at the Eastern and Western Ranges and outlying stations in support of garrison and mission operations.

  • Provides operations, maintenance and sustainment support for network, LANs/WANs and telecommunications equipment and systems associated with EWOCS MDA Communications and Telemetry Transport Systems. May perform work at client site.
  • Conducts various surveys such as electronic/electrical, mechanical and environment systems, space and weight, maintainability, and logistic support to determine the feasibility of installations.
  • Provides technical support to end users and maintains overall functionality of networks.
  • Activates/deactivates network lines according to established schedules.
  • Performs first- and/or second-level problem determination (first level is help desk).
  • Interfaces with users and/or network vendors.
  • Tests and analyzes elements of network facilities (power, communication machinery, software lines, modems, and terminals).
  • Monitors systems and advises senior members of network staff of network failures or degradation and assists in arranging for corrective actions plans.
  • Performs the site network proposal walk-through, creates and proofs network plant proposals for participating sites utilizing software that creates graphical representations of communications networks.
  • Provides on-site end-user training on system operation, maintenance and limited troubleshooting.
  • Tracks and coordinates individual tasks for labor utilization, job performance quality and scheduling.
  • May have responsibility for training and guidance of more junior technicians.
  • Provide technical and operational support for networking and communications equipment and systems associated with MDA systems in response to outages and information transport issues reported by 30 SW 24-hour Focal Point (FP).
  • Monitor systems and provide notification of network failures or degradation and assist in arranging for corrective action plans.
  • Test and troubleshoot network infrastructure and communications systems.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities of network and communications systems.
  • Provide support to Network Engineers in implementation and configuration of systems.
  • Provide support to Network Engineers and Information Assurance Analyst in the performance of MDA cyber security services as needed.
  • Create and review network communications diagrams and participate in site surveys.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as required.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, to include 2+ years of networking and/or communications systems experience.
  • Active DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level I certification (Network+, A+, CND, SSCP, CCNA Security) or the ability to obtain it within 6 months from start date.
  • Experience with testing and troubleshooting inside plant cabling.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance. In order to obtain a security clearance you must be a U.S. Citizen.

Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge or experience with Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB) and/or Missile Defense Agency (MDA) systems.
  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Active DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification (Security+, SSCP, GSEC, CCNA Security, GICSP).
  • Self-driven and results oriented, capable of effectively working multiples tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, including proficiency with MS Office Suite.
