The IT Manager coordinates, plans, and leads major projects for internal IT services . Delegates responsibility among IT staff to ensure that the computer systems and end users are fully supported for the organization. Creates documentation of policies/procedures and overall IT infrastructure.
Responsibilities:- Collaborates with users, vendors, support technicians, and managers to understand and assess computing and system needs and requirements
- Communicates the goals, policies, and procedures of the company to the IT team; develops plans to implement these needs
- Serves as a liaison for IT and Management. Must communicate technical problems/solutions with management effectively
- Manages/supervises supporting IT staff and delegates tasks accordingly
- Leads large IT projects, including the design and deployment of new IT systems and services
- Monitors performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure
- Helps define IT infrastructure strategy, architecture, and processes
- Analyzes business requirements by partnering with key stakeholders across the organization to develop solutions for IT needs
- Assess vendors and develop test strategies for new hardware and software
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to internal IT
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Relevant certifications are a plus
- 2-5 years of experience as a hands-on Service Desk Manager / Infrastructure Manager that includes:
- Strong team leadership that includes training & mentorship
- Experience leading and managing large IT projects and rolling out IT infrastructure across various technologies
- Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phone systems
- Firm grasp on IT infrastructure and operations best practices
- Desired project experience:
- Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phone systems
- Hands on experience moving on-premise Exchange to Office 365
- Hands on experience setting up Microsoft Teams
- Hands on experience upgrading Windows Servers
- Strong experience in documentation (How Tos, FAQs, asset mgmt, configuration mgmt etc.) to drive initiatives to document the environment thoroughly (spanning network, systems/servers, storage, virtualization, etc.)
- Experience building and maintaining helpdesk infrastructure
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize
- Strong written & verbal communication skills
- Ability to explain technical problems and offer solutions to those without technological training.
