Greenhouse Technician

As a Preventative Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational availability of a wide array of manufacturing equipment for our Gilroy, CA facility. You will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, calibrating, and modifying electrical and mechanical systems and equipment. This includes documenting work on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment involved in processing and packaging of greenhouse produce. The technician also assists in cleaning and other production-support duties required to keep our buildings sanitized and functioning in a production environment. You will work cross functionally with process and equipment engineering teams, operations, and grow to improve equipment reliability and minimize or eliminate downtime.

• Maintain, execute, and improve the maintenance program for the greenhouse production facility
• Maintain an inventory list for system consumables and equipment parts
• Maintain and repair irrigation system including plumbing and electrical components
• Ensure equipment and greenhouse infrastructure (utility generation, distribution, and skid built equipment) is operating under normal system parameters
• Install and assemble equipment
• Maintain cleanliness of interior and exterior of facility including maintenance of trash, compost, and recycle bins
• Vacuum, sweep, pressure wash/mop interior and/or exterior concrete areas, walkways, insect exclusion area, work area, and system equipment
• Inspect facility / equipment and report any damaged or broken items, landscape issues, and/or safety hazards.
• Carry out heavy cleaning and special projects such as deep cleaning specific areas and helping to maintain a clean greenhouse.
• Properly operate and store any equipment needed for tasks (foam sprayer, pressure washer, forklift, etc.)
• Collaborate with and provide support to staff within a production environment.
• Follow standard operating procedures in a safe and compliant manner.
• Promptly report breaches in compliance, safety, and sanitation to management.

• 5+ years experience in manufacturing or food production environment
• Ability to work independently with strong time management
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
• Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery
• Proven ability to perform a variety of tasks under time constraints and strict deadlines
• Demonstrated efficiency, productivity, attention to detail, accuracy, and results orientation
• Satisfactory computer skills with experience in G Suite and Microsoft Office
• Forklift certification

• Experience with indoor farming, greenhouse operations, manufacturing operations, and food safety a plus
• HVAC experience is a plus
