- Assist in the inspection of Cold Shield products throughout the manufacturing process.
- Leads the effort on CMM inspection, using both touch probe and vision systems. Knowledge of Zeiss Calypso software is preferred.
- Assist with inspection of aluminum mandrels, aluminum segments, baffles, 1st article inspections, MRB processing, and other various operations.
- Reviews and interprets internal and customer drawings to identify overlapping, missing or conflicting tolerances as well as any discrepancies.
- Performs both advanced and simple mechanical measurements and calculations to verify material acceptance.
- Performs inspections on machine shop set-ups, finished goods, incoming materials, incoming tooling, and in-house fabrication materials.
- Communicates problematic findings with IR Products manager and Production/Engineering heads as required.
- Complete required Quality Control documentation, including, but not limited to: 1st article inspection reports, mechanical inspection reports, incoming material inspection reports, material disposition reports, corrective action reports.
- May also create special reports based on collection and interpretation of data, indicating possible trends and or problems on the manufacturing floor.
- Involved in coordinating with other internal departments affected or influenced by variance in materials inspected.
- Set quality standards for new products, generate new inspection sheets, address complaints, and resolve issues.
- Updates Quality Control files for new products and/or modifications to existing products.
- Requires a minimum of five years (relevant) QC experience.
- Strong CMM background. Zeiss Calypso software knowledge preferred.
- Solid and verifiably successful track record/experience in mechanical quality inspection process.
- Must have extensive knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T (including tolerance analysis).
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, procedures, and correspondence. Ability to articulate findings or opinion effectively with groups or specific individuals within the organization.
- Competent in the use of basic hand measuring tools, such as micrometer, caliper, and height gauge, etc.
- Computer literate using MS Word, Excel and Outlook and web-based search skills.
