RFX is the leading hardware and software solution provider for the visual effects & animation industry. Located in the heart of Hollywood and serving clients all over the world, we are the one-stop shop for visual effects advice, service and support in the film, video, web, gaming and interactive industries.RFX is launching a new virtual private cloud (VPC) offering that provisions high end remote virtual workstations for animation and VFX studios. We are looking for a systems engineer to help our team successfully launch the new service. Our datacenter leverages the latest hardware, like the AMD Threadripper Pro and EPYC Milan CPUs, Nvidia A6000 and A5000 GPUs, 100GBe Networking, etc. We heavily leverage open source technologies including Openstack, Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, KVM, CEPH, etc. as the core foundation of our custom solution.If you enjoy working with or want to learn about the state of the art hardware and open source technologies listed above, and you want to help creative studios create some of the highest quality TV and feature films, this position might be right for you.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Help deploy new Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs) for customers using our existing Terraform templates
  • Troubleshoot and customize opensource applications and frameworks
  • Provide face-to-face remote support for VFX and Animation studios using Linux and Windows workstations in the RFX Cloud.
  • Visit our datacenter in downtown Los Angeles to deploy and configure new hardware
  • Help troubleshoot application issues, OS issues, networking problems, etc
  • Maintain CentOS and Microsoft deployment and automation tools.
  • Coordinate with other members of the RFX Cloud team to resolve issues.

Required Skills
  • Programming skills to troubleshoot and customize opensource applications and frameworks
  • Professional experience in a Systems/IT support position in a VFX/Animation studio
  • Experience with scripting (Python, Powershell, etc.) to help automate repeatable processes
  • Knowledge of Windows 10 Pro and Centos, including installation and configuration.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server including installation and configuration.
  • Must have exceptional time management skills and be able to prioritize.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, SCCM, WSUS and Group Policy.
  • Experience with physical and virtual server environments.
  • Understanding of networking protocols, network switching, VLANs, Routers, IP subnets, DNS and DHCP.

Desirable Skills
  • Knowledge of deploying VPCs in AWS or Google Cloud Platform
  • Knowledge of remote working software applications, such as Teradici.
  • Knowledge of VFX software from Autodesk and SideFX
