Description UKG Global Security organization is seeking a Director of Engineering, Security, to lead our Global Security Research & Development(GSRD) teams. GSRD is a critical team within our organization that creates and maintains foundational security frameworks and integrations that are used throughout the organization. These efforts allow our organization to adopt security controls in a quick and efficient way. As a director, you will mentor, hire, and be the technical leader of a team that maintains the frameworks in a variety of security fields such as encryption, file security scanning, authentication, authorization and others. The team also supports the overall Global Security organization through automation needs, custom integrations and critical security fixes throughout the product suite.We are looking for someone with a strong software engineering background, a strong passion for security, and demonstrated experience with working on systems with significant amount of personal identifiable and/or sensitive information. As a director, you will manage your project goals, contribute to strategy and help develop your team.You will help team members deliver exceptional products while also developing their own skills and working towards their career goals. You will work with partners within the company (cross-team partnerships) to create a product direction, including defining priorities, working with our iteration/project and program managers to enable progress, coordinating with peer teams, and ensuring that we're delivering incremental value to our customers.Qualifications As a Director of Security R&D you will:Create the vision, architect, and lead the security framework strategy of the organization.Explore and innovate through different areas of security R&D including but not limited to Machine Learning and its applications in security, data streaming for security enforcement and detections, authentication, encryption, and other related areas.Design new systems or improve on the current design of existing ones.Work cross functionally to understand and map strategic needs to initiatives, projects, and tasksChampion engineering best practicesEstablish a solid framework for our development and research and development processHire, coach, and motivate a team of high performing ICsProvide technical leadership and guidance to both your team members, peers and other leaders in the organization.Perform code deep dives to uncover bottlenecks and resolve technical debtArchitect strategies to manage and control team workloadSet and measure clear team expectations, goals and performanceAs a seasoned leader, you should support the team and organization as a people leader. We're looking for someone who has:Software development experience in a high scale production environment.A deep understanding of modern web application architectureExposure and proven experience using public cloud services efficientlyStrong communication skills and is accustomed to working closely with a product team.An open mind and does not always default to industry norms when solving a problem.Strong leadership, technical and high emotional intelligenceRequired Qualifications:Five or more years' experience in:Leading/Managing teams.Hands-on technical leadership.Hands-on system design and programming experience in one of the following languages: Python, Go, Java.Experience influencing the organization and team to lead and/or push successful products.Distributed systems and architecture / system design experience.Hire and retain software engineering talent.Establish and articulate priorities and goals.Strategic in nature but problem solving and getting involved when/as needed. One or more years' experience in:Creating and maintaining data ingestion and management pipeline (including exposure to modern data streaming technologies such as Apache Beams, Flink, Kakfa Streams)Strong awareness of modern CI/CD/SecDevOps principlesWorking in and deploying to cloud platforms Great to Have Skills:Experience creating and maintaining security frameworks such as Authentication and/or Authorization systems, Applied Cryptography.Applied machine learning applications to security.Leading and coordinating research related initiatives with the focus of creating innovation and connecting to the business security strategy.#LI-REMOTECorporate overview Here at UKG, Our Purpose Is People.
