Corrections Deputy - SJVC Modesto

Primary responsibility is to supervise, observe, move, book, search, process and care for inmates at the County correctional facility on an assigned shift; may perform specialized assignments in addition to typical Corrections Deputy duties.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED; and, Successful completion of the introductory training described in the California Penal Code 832 within 90 days of appointment, certified by either the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards & Training or the Standards & Training Program of the California Board of Corrections, and the ability to successfully complete a STC certified corrections officer core course within one year of appointment; or, any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid Driver's License - Class C or better

CPR

This position is located in UKIAH, CA.

A written exam will be held at the San Joaquin Valley College Modesto Campus. Must apply to take written exam.

The eligibility list developed from this recruitment may be used to fill regular full-time and/or part-time vacancies at the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office Adult Detention Facility should they occur. Employees in this classification receive a 2% retention increase in base pay after the completion of 2 years of service, an additional 3% increase in base pay after the completion of 5 years of service and an additional 2% increase in base pay after the completion of 10 years of service.
