Mechanical HVAC Estimator

Mechanical HVAC Estimator will:

Compile all costs including fees, profit and overhead before submittal of a proposal. Obtain sub-contract quotes and recent job cost history in order to develop a competitive bid. Studying plans and specifications, take-offs, listings, extensions, gathering quotes and visiting proposed job sites. Provide HVAC and Sheet Metal detailing in accordance with contact documents, plans, specifications and applicable code for construction of commercial and industrial projects.

Job Responsibilities:

Analyze blueprints, specifications and other documentation to prepare time, cost and labor estimates for products, projects or services

Maintain contact with owners, general contractors and architects to promote bidding opportunities

Conceptual HVAC/Sheet Metal budgeting and preliminary design

Prepare HVAC/Sheet Metal estimating utilizing Autobid or manual methods

Coordinate purchasing and scheduling with Project Management

Develop project budgets

Assist with Marketing

Prepare proposals and estimates for HVAC/Sheet Metal projects

Study and interpret contract documents, specifications. plans or sketches

Perform layout and prepare drawings and detailing for use in coordination, prefabrication, assembly and installation of mechanical systems

Prepare material listings for procurement and coordinate delivery time with project work schedule

Establish measurements and other dimensional criteria necessary for coordinating trades and for manufacturing, assembly and placement of materials

Maintain effective verbal and written communication with the Project Manager, field, fabrication shop and General Contractor's/Owner's representative in order to execute work in an orderly and expeditious manner

Education And/Or Experience:

10 years experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience

4 year-college degree or equivalent vocation school

Thorough understanding of HVAC/Sheet Metal systems

Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Autobid

Heavy use of basic math, geometry and drawing
