Director of Hotel Operations (Alisal Guest Ranch)

The Alisal Guest Ranch and Resort in Solvang is looking for an experienced hospitality professional to join our team! The Director of Operations position oversees the Hotel Operations for Rooms (Front Office, Bell, Concierge and Housekeeping), Spa, Lake, and Activities. In addition, this position is responsible for helping to ensure the overall operating performance, guest satisfaction, and financial results for the property.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include:

Supports and leads the Managers of the Rooms and Activities departments.

Communicates daily with Department Heads to obtain/provide current information regarding daily activities/functions and upcoming events.

Serves as a member of the Executive Committee.

Conducts frequent inspection/analysis/critique of all Hotel operations.

Monitors guest comments and improves upon service levels.

Partners with our Finance, HR, Sales, Revenue, and Marketing departments to ensure operational alignment of Hotel's goals.

Works with upper-level management to analyze current business and industry trends; projects future expectations and needs; develops long term budgets and capital improvement plans for within the Hotel.

Responsible for overall resolution of guest problems or complaints.

Responsible for the entire Hotel operation in the absence of the General Manager.

Qualifications

Six to eight years of progressive management experience in the upscale or luxury Hotel market segment.

Excellent planning, effective management, leadership, organizational, guest services, and communication skills.

Must be computer literate with a strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel in addition to use of the Internet and aptitude for learning new programs.

Requires strong ability to prioritize, organize, and manage competing priorities.

Must possess excellent reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language.

Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

Position is full-time, exempt and reports directly to the General Manager.
