If you are a driven craftsman and enjoy working with your hands, doing different things every day, we have an opportunity for you! We don’t expect you to know anything about clocks, shipping crate construction, etc. we’ll completely train you from the ground-up.

Company overview:

We are a boutique tower clock manufacturer, selling nationally and sometimes overseas. Our products are large, exterior analog clocks such as what is found on universities, city centers, municipal buildings, free-standing post/street clocks, etc. Everything is built-to-order. Our clocks operate by fully automatic clock controllers, often with GPS synchronization, so there’s some technology involved! We don’t tinker with old weight/gear driven mechanisms.

When we re-furbish antique type of ‘city hall’ clocks we install modern mechanisms and lighting systems, digitally controlled, with new hands to look exactly like original.

Position Summary:

Working largely by yourself in our clean, well-lit shop, responsibilities would include:

- Assembling the clocks

- Router-cutting plastic faces

- Tooling metal parts prior to powder coating

- Painting inside of clock cases

- Making sub-assemblies, fiddly, detail work

- Installing components

- Wiring things together

- Run-testing / troubleshooting

- Building shipping crates from studs and OSB using a table/chop saw, etc.

- Driving to deliver and fetch sub-assemblies and/or parts from vendors

- Occasional field installations elsewhere in the United States

- Occasional use of boom or scissor lifts on job-sites

- Occasionally working with customers on technical help

Required skills, include:

- Attention to detail and results

- Able to work-out situations as they arise

- Work-out designs for crates or other things as needed

- Read shop drawings and instruction manuals for related equipment

- Customer relations / service minded

- Effective communication skills

- Work independently

- Valid drivers license, no CDL required

- Familiar with small hand tools

- Able to climb ladders, working at heights

- Able to lift and move 75 lbs such as sheets of OSB

Helpful skills, include:

- Wiring

- Carpentry

- Wood and metal material knowledge

- Painting

- Minor machining, such as drilling and tapping

- Prioritizing tasks relating to shipping deadlines

- Work hours are generally 8 – 5, 40+ hours/week.
