Description Job Description:Leidos is a FORTUNE 500 company bringing a mix of innovative technology and sector expertise to customers in the national security, engineering, and the health industries. Leidos is seeking an Intermediate level Software Systems Engineer for a position as part of a team supporting the Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) in Columbia, MD. This is a full time position that must work on site in Columbia, MD. The Software Systems Engineer will support tasks on the contract related to DevSecOps and Analytics. This includes providing and assisting with innovative design, engineering, and integration support for new and existing capabilities within the new UCSA environment by improving the lead-time and frequency of deliverables through enhanced engineering practices. In addition, the position will support the development of tools, analytics, and visualization capabilities supporting the DCO warfighter with the objective of delivering value to the end user as quickly and securely as possible.Primary Responsibilities

  • Under minimal direction, provides specialized expertise within multiple systems, software disciplines, as well as general knowledge of related disciplines, applications implications, and customer areas. Responsible for performing in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support. Assists in the planning and conversion for new hardware/software products. Maintains currency, debugs and configures related software products. Provides operating systems planning and evaluation for performance analysis, capacity planning and hardware upgrades. Works from specifications to develop or modify operating systems applications. Assists with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs. Interfaces with other system support groups to resolve problems, setting standards and improving overall efficiency of the operating system. Designs, codes, tests and implements tools for operations automation. Works on most phases of software systems programming applications, and may require instruction and guidance in other phases.
  • Support Prime to incorporate as much of a DevSecOps pipeline into the UCSA lab environment as possible.
  • Support Prime to perform analysis of the data sets within the UCSA environment in order to determine the best approach for developing analytics and visualizations.
  • Look for opportunities for machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions when applicable.
  • Re-use available technology to the greatest extent possible, with considerations for integration, configuration management, and future requirements for enhancements.
  • Leverage an iterative and/or agile development process providing the Government and the end users with the opportunity to review and provide feedback on developed capabilities to inform ongoing development iterations.
  • Make BDP, analytics, visualizations, and analytic capability source code and executables, to include installation images, available for download by UCSA stakeholders via the CIE. Vendor shall provide source code and/or installation images on physical media (e.g. DVD) to the Government upon request.
  • Support Prime to perform all software maintenance and sustainment related tasks to newly created and existing COTS/GOTS developed solutions and tools, analytics, visualizations and analytic capabilities. There are approximately 30 capabilities currently in production in the UCSA AOR
Basic Qualifications
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with many open source and proprietary products and technologies in the DCO environment and be able to learn and adapt to new technologies and paradigms rapidly.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in big data analytics, utilizing or creating services that interact with Elastic, Hadoop, Accumulo, etc. and using their respective access control mechanisms.
  • Proficient in: Java, JavaScript, ExtJS, Python, Scala, R, Structured Query Language (SQL), Ruby, XML technologies and JavaScript Object Notation
  • .
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in a technical discipline and 5 years of experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Can be waived if approved by the Prime.
  • Qualified IA personnel IAW DoD 8570/DoD 8140, minimum IAT II.
  • Active Secret Clearance Required with ability to obtain a Top Secret
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with DISA Network Enclaves
  • Expertise performing data scientist functions; includes hands-on experience writing code, designing analytic models, creating Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) logic, modeling databases, writing very complex queries.
  • Expertise developing applications on the Apache Hadoop Map Reduce framework.
  • Expertise developing dashboards and Technology Add-ons (TAs) for Splunk.
  • Familiarity with coding applications that utilize the following cloud backend components: Elastic, Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), Hadoop Database (HBASE), Accumulo, PostgreSQL, Storm, Spark, Kafka, and various middleware components.
  • Expertise in modern software architecture frameworks, service oriented architecture and design patterns.
  • Expertise in developing and calling web services (Representational State Transfer (REST), Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), etc.) APIs and frameworks to interact with various data producers and consumers.
