Role has a 1 week a month on call rotation of Monday to Monday. 8AM to 8PM

Special Instructions: The team is responsible for providing level 2 support (Operational and Data support) for the PI Distributed Batch applications that spans across our PI Distributed Systems environment as well as provide technical direction and participate in Agile transformation activities with the Business & DEV Squads servicing our Personal Investing customers. The role is open due to an employee retiring. Its critical to get a replacement quick in order to keep up with level of support and team moral as it impacts different aspects of their group such as On-Call rotations and extra work load. Role has a 1 week a month on call rotation of Monday to Monday. 8AM to 8PM.

The Team:
  • The Mainframe Support team’s key role is to maintain stability and availability of data processed by PI Mainframe Batch Cycles and ensure the dependent applications have the latest details to our internal Business and to end customers. The team has in-depth knowledge on various subsystems related to Personal Investing; Product Team and related business contacts that helps to understand the system better and enables Team to address incidents affecting and/or reported by customers.
  • Client's Enterprise Infrastructure supports several Business Units within the organization, and we have a need for a Software Engineer, who will contribute to enable an efficient environment, ensure to provide Mainframe Batch and Online environments and address Business Incidents by aligning them with the system. The role will provide in-depth understanding of Personal Investing Domain, various Sub systems associated with the Business Unit and technologies and tools used by the Personal Investing reps and enriches with end customer experience!
  • The Engineer will ensure a stable environment, look for continuous improvement, through identification of automation opportunities to provide enhanced support, problem resolution and project management. This role requires the ability to perform production and data support work as well researching and resolving issues related to job failures, Control-M scheduling issues, and infrastructure changes for the various PI mainframe applications. These applications are essential to the PI business unit’s daily processing. Production Support role involves all the following support functions: Incident Management, Change Management. Problem Management. Some support activities and implementations will be after hours or on the weekends, as needed. The successful candidate will also participate in the teams' on-call rotation providing off hours support.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily operational support for the PI Mainframe applications that spans around Cash Management, Retail Systems, Retirement and related mainframe system environment.
  • Provide coding, testing, and implementation of COBOL batch, online and Control-M solutions to resolve production issues.
  • Respond to user inquiries regarding application-related problems.
  • Participate in small to large initiatives ranging from application incident resolution work to project related tasks.
  • Document operational procedures and share knowledge with the rest of the Operations team and other teams.
  • Provide On-Call Coverage on rotation.
  • Batch monitoring and SLA / OLA tracking and ensure that all critical batch problems are resolved in a timely manner.

Skills that are key to this role
  • 4-5 years of experience in Production Support role
  • Experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, MVS, Endevor, ISPF, TSO, CICS, Control-M, and basic IBM utilities.
  • Should be committed to Delivery and go beyond boundaries and time zones to achieve production stability.
  • Proven understanding of the business or function for which the application is desired.
  • Should be able to perform prod support activities including but not limited to batch monitoring and issue resolution, perform root cause analysis of incidents and identifying performance improvement opportunities.
  • The applicant should demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good Interpersonal skills (written/oral/listening/influencing)
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Must be experienced in developing and maintaining systems in the MVS mainframe environment.
  • Proven analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be capable of learning complex processes quickly and can learn through independent research.
  • Experience with Cloud Migration would be beneficial.

Skills You Bring
  • Ability to triage incidents.
  • Familiar with CICS-Cobol code review.
  • Familiar with any debugging tool. Preferably Interest.
  • Mainframe MQ is a plus
