LOCATION: Oak Ridge, TN or Remote

PURPOSE: This position provides systems administration support of the ORAU server and client administration infrastructure. The position will use Microsoft Server applications to provide domain services and manage client configurations. This position must be able to work cooperatively in a team environment under minimal supervision to install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, and support enterprise services and client systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Microsoft Server Administration
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Microsoft servers and services.
  • Responsibilities include domain services, corporate messaging, enterprise applications, physical and virtual servers, and monitoring.

Projects
  • Plan, participate, schedule, and communicate IT projects while working collaboratively with other IT staff.
  • Work with project management staff on IT components for organizational initiatives and corporate projects.

Client management
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain client management tools.
  • Provide client configuration and support according to corporate requirements and best practices.
  • Build, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain client applications and updates.

Cyber-security
  • Ensure security of network infrastructure by following hardening guides and best practice guides of all equipment and software.

Documentation
  • Develop and maintain documentation including server configurations and user job aids.
  • Develop and maintain an asset inventory of equipment and associated maintenance agreement, software and systems.

End User Support
  • Provide network technical support to IT staff that directly support the end user.
  • Identify problems, determine root cause, and implement solutions to resolve problems.

Other Systems Administration
  • Provide support for IT data center technologies, including Linux, networking, remote access, storage area networks (SANs), and various service specific appliances.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 2-4 years of job related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience performing duties as described may be substituted for the minimum requirements.Knowledge of Microsoft Server, Domain Services, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365, and Intune is required. Familiarity with other Microsoft products, including Microsoft Enterprise Configuration Manager, System Center Operations Manager, and SQL is desired, but not required. Experience providing systems support in Microsoft Windows-based computer networks is required. Experience supporting security measures and tools, to include scanning and remediation of vulnerabilities. Experience troubleshooting, analyzing and resolving outages and issues. Experience using management tools and performance monitoring software. Experience in developing and maintaining documentation is also required. Experience with Linux, multifactor authentication, networking, remote access, and storage area networks (SANs) is desired. Industry standard certifications are also desired, but not required.
