Cost Accountant{Whitehouse, TN, Thomasville, NC, or Atlanta, GA}

| Company Size: 1,001-5,000 employees We’re looking for a Cost Accountant with 5+ years of cost accounting experience for a great opportunity in either Whitehouse, TC, Thomasville, NC or Atlanta, GA. This will be an onsite, Monday through Friday role.The Cost Accountant will be responsible for the reduction of financial waste and increased profits. Responsibilities include determining actual costs of manufacturing or service activities, scrutinizing associated company expenses, analyzing profitability and assisting with preparation of the company budget.

As the Cost Accountant, you will:
  • Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization.
  • Develop cost standards for materials and labor.
  • Maintain cost accounting system and cost ledger.
  • Plan, study, and collect data to determine cost of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.
  • Analyze data collected and record cost information for use in controlling expenditures.
  • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided to determine effects on cost.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Analyze manufacturing operations, equipment availability and utilization.
  • Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings.
  • Analyze inventory valuations.
  • Analyze production costs and recommend changes.
  • Prepare and complete internal cost audits. Prepare reports.
  • Make estimates of new and proposed product costs.
  • Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Prepare cost of goods sold and production reports.
  • Oversee annual physical inventory and monitor cycle count program.
  • Prepare all inventory-related journal entries at month end.
  • Make estimates of new and proposed product costs.
  • Reconcile raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished-goods stock balances.
  • Perform life cycle cost-benefit analysis.
  • Monitor unit cost variance.
  • Assist in month end close of the General Ledger.
  • Develop and retain any cost accounting staff.
  • Support special projects and ad hoc cost accounting reporting as assigned.
  • Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Job Requirements for the Cost Accountant:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • CMA or MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of Cost Accounting work experience.
  • Solid knowledge of Accounting principles.
  • Solid cost systems background.
  • Experience working with production and manufacturing teams on development and analysis of cost standards.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Expert in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent report-writing, communication, and IT skills.
  • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
