Structural Welder/ Fabricator

Primary Function: Reporting to the Fabrication Plant Manager, this position will perform various structural welds and fabrication of miscellaneous metals, structural components and piping systems.Typical Duties: Weld structural steel in all positions.

Weld stainless steel and carbon steel and possibly other alloys.

Select welding wires, gases and settings for a variety of processes.

Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.

Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, flange line up pins, wrap arounds, center finders and rulers.

Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.

Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.

Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.

Exceptional attendance.

Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform set-up, material handling duties, and minor general maintenance.

Responsible for area housekeeping.

Participate in the processes of continuous improvement.

Ability to effectively perform similar position on the floor at any point in time.

Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization’s goals.

Travel domestically and internationally.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis is required. Must be able to stand/walk 90% of the time and sit 10% of the time.Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience: Welding certification is strongly preferred.

Three (3) or more years of welding experience is strongly preferred.

Ability to pass a bend test.

Ability to weld in 6G position.

Ability to read blue print drawings is required.

Strong math skills are required.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required.

High level of energy and motivation.

Ability to work flexible hours with some weekend and holiday work required.

Must possess the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, both hourly and management, in a team environment.
