Providence is calling a Radiation Therapist to Providence Medford Medical Center in Medford, OR. This is a full-time, day shift position. Our hours of operation are 7am - 5pm. Our Caregivers support these clinic hours. Our team utilizes modern programs and equipment such as Elekta Versa HD, Varian 21EX, MOSAIQ, and RayStation to treat 3D, VMAT, and SBRT. For our robust HDR program, Verisource and BrachyVision are used. Candidates who are familiar with any of these programs are highly encouraged to apply.

We are seeking a Radiation Therapist that will perform simulations and delivers therapeutic ionizing radiation to the patient as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Assists the physician and fellow employees to provide optimum care and treatment to the patients.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

Be responsible for keeping abreast of current technical trends and procedures used in the care and treatment of radiation therapy patients and the ability of applying such knowledge

Participate in continuing education through attendance in appropriate meetings, conferences, classes and literature review

Actively communicate ideas, current techniques, meeting information, and similar information to co-workers and students

Provide active participation in the weekly treatment evaluation sessions (i.e. Chart Rounds)

Openly discusses specific and general patient problems, condition and concerns

Contribute to solution of treatment technique problems

Provide appropriate and understandable information to the adolescent, adult and geriatric patient regarding health care and potential problems during radiation therapy

In cooperation with the nursing staff, Radiation Oncologist and other care providers, responsible for monitoring patients' physical, emotional and psychological status during their course of treatment

Responsible for proficient and accurate performance in simulation:

Independently operate simulation equipment in a safe and proper manner

Perform routine CT simulations with basic knowledge of proper positioning in accordance with daily treatment

Perform advanced simulation techniques in cooperation with the dosimetrist and/or physicist

Document concise treatment set-up instructions to provide accurate daily reproducibility of patient treatment position and technique

Construct and utilize immobilization devices

Operate and understand the function of the treatment machines, and accessory equipment (i.e. block fabrication, immobilization devices, Portal imager)

Responsible for morning warm-up checks for quality control

Identify and report any malfunctions and/or deficiencies to the appropriate staff member

Accurately deliver the prescribed course of radiation therapy with minimal supervision

Maintain patients daily treatment record in accordance with departmental charting standards and is responsible for accurate completion of daily patient statistics and charges

Check prescription, diagnosis, consent forms and patient identification

Document concise treatment set-up instructions to provide accurate daily reproducibility of patient treatment position and technique

Check and approve treatment plan with treatment sheet (and documents) to verify correct axis, tattoos, gantry / collimator angles, SSD's, monitor units and energy utilized for each patient's treatment

Assist in teaching radiation therapy students by means of clinical practice

Assist in development and maintenance of up-to-date teaching procedures

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

Graduate of an AMA-approved Radiation Therapy Technology program

Must be registered or board-eligible, by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)

Current State of Oregon Radiation Therapy Technologist (RTT) license

Current BLS licensure

Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

One (1) year of experience in Radiation Therapy
