Job Description: Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Network Communications (level 2)to maintain smooth operation of local area, worldwide and Virtual Private Networks (VPN) at Edwards AFB, CA location. Network Communications plans, evaluates, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings. Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions. Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems. May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment. May design network or portion of network that include selection of hardware and software packages. Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including interfacing with users to diagnose and resolve issues, open trouble tickets, and coordination with senior network administrators. Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. NGSkillsQualifications:Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and two years of relevant network communications experience. In lieu of formal education, six years relevant job experience may be considered
  • Must have and maintain CompTIA Security+ CE certification
  • Must have a solid understanding of Microsoft Windows Server 2016/ 2019, Workstation operating systems, end-user support in an Active Directory environment, general understanding of LAN/WAN networking.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must be able to lift equipment up to 40 pounds
  • Must be willing to work outside of normally scheduled times, after hours support, and extended work days.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on call status for 24 hours-a-day, 7 days- a-week, and 365 days a year
  • Must meet medical requirements for worldwide travel
  • Must have and maintain a valid U.S. passport, accept customer furnished quarters for a period up to 90 days away from primary work
  • Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance and be able to maintain that clearance and have the ability to obtain and retain Special Access Program clearance within 365 days from submission
Preferred Qualifications:
  • DoD Active Top Secret Clearance
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Remote Desktop Services, its operation procedures and service delivery activities required to maintain mission-readiness
  • Experience with:
    • MS SCCM
    • Active Directory
    • Group policy design, testing and implementation
