Salary Range: Commensurate with Experience The University of California, San Diego Health System is seeking a talented Storage Engineer with an exceptional commitment to service excellence to join its team. As a Storage Engineer, you will be an integral member of the Information Services Infrastructure team, collaborating with diverse and talented team members to help solve multidimensional information technology problems, improve customer experience, and generate value for our stakeholders across a broad base of departments and constituencies. In conjunction with the Storage team, the incumbent provides system analysis, maintenance, and monitoring of storage and backup systems including installations, upgrades, patches, as well as documentation with primary responsibility for the implementation, management, support and maintenance of various storage and backup system software products and hardware components that comprise enterprise computing infrastructure. Manages and supports the systems/hardware infrastructure and associated resources. Provides 7/24 problem management support and resolution for all storage and backup applications and systems as part of the on-call rotation. Incumbent will have in depth knowledge of storage and backup design, implementation, and management. Incumbents provide consultation and knowledge transfer with respect to system design, administration techniques, and software components. The incumbent will have a good background in technical writing and documentation. The successful candidate will assist with managing, maintaining, monitoring and securing (including data security) of all Health System storage. The Storage Engineer acts as a tier 3 support specialist for other teams in the organization and collaborates with other Health System and Campus based teams as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training in storage architect or storage engineer role, designing and supporting large, multi-site storage and backup environments, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training in storage architect or storage engineer role, designing and supporting large, multi-site storage and backup environments.
  • Professional experience and proven success performing systems integration and deploying complex systems integration solutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of systems integration deploying complex systems integration solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and administering NetApp storage systems.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and administering Brocade switches.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience designing, implementing, and administering Pure storage systems.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and administering CommVault.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and administering Rubrik.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and administering cloud based storage and backup solutions.

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
