- Analyze manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancements of quality, reliability, cycle time, cost reduction, and yield.
- Investigate production quality issues to identify root cause and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Work with the production group to identify and implement process improvements in areas such as material movements, logistics, and workflow.
- Assist with the design, construction and start-up of new or improved production equipment.
- Lead the implementation of small capital projects related to process improvement.
- Support production department to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems.
- Work closely with manufacturing department to develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for employees.
- Participate in investigations to assist in determining root causes.
- Assist in product scale up and new product introduction in the manufacturing unit.
- Act as manufacturing lead in MOC program working closely with QA to ensure program remains dynamic and delays on the production and engineering side are minimized.
- Owns the P&ID s in the plant and ensures their accuracy and timely update as changes in the field are implemented.
- Develop/Modify and train on SOP s needed for introducing new or modifying existing process equipment or processes in the facility.
- Responsible for administration of the OSHA PSM program to ensure compliance.
- 10-15 years experience as a chemical engineer preferably in production/process area of specialty chemical products (Soaps, detergents, toilet chemicals, personal care industry)
- Bachelor s degree in Chemical Engineering
- Experience with large scale organic synthesis including:
- Esterification/Transesterification/Polyesterification
- Amidation/Transamidation
- Quaternization/Betaineization
- Post-Reaction Processes including:
- Adsorption
- Neutralization
- Washing
- Distillation
- Steam Stripping (Deodorization)
- Filtration
- Experience with Rockwell Factory Talk or other appropriate PLC experience.
