Please review the job details below.Maxar is currently seeking a Senior Geometric Aerospace Engineer to join our team in Longmont, CO.Life with UsYour Project: The Remote Sensing Sciences (RSS) team performs calibration and commissioning of new Maxar space imaging platforms while maintaining the accuracy and performance of the existing on-orbit constellation. In this new position, you will be responsible for development and calibration activities with emphasis on geometric performance. As an ideal candidate, you must have knowledge or experience in satellite imaging systems and the underlying technology of a space imaging constellation. You will have the ability to become a subject matter expert (SME) in geometric calibration over the span of a year through on-the-job training and experience. You will work with other Maxar SMEs to help design and operate new imaging sensors while maintaining and improving the current Maxar constellation.Your Career: We are very serious about professional development and continuing education at Maxar.   • Perform ongoing space imaging operations, calibration activities and performance characterization
  • Work with an RSS mentor to develop skills with a path to becoming a geometric SME
  • Innovate new processes to improve RSS core functions and services
  • Collect and process calibration image data for geometric calibration and performance
Minimum requirements for this position:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and be willing and able to obtain U.S. Secret security clearance
  • Master's degree photogrammetry, engineering, physics, or math, relevant to geometric characterization of space imaging platforms. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience with statistical processing and analysis techniques of large sets of measurement data
  • Experience developing algorithms and engineering software
These skills would be amazing:
  • Active Secret clearance or higher
  • Background and experience in satellite photogrammetry with emphasis on geometric calibration
  • Understanding of end-to-end image processing chain - from sensor electronics and image ancillary data to geometric characterization
  • Comfortable working in a Linux computing environment
The compensation range for this position is $98,250.00 to $163,750 annually, dependent on skills and experience. This position is also eligible for a bonus plan.
