Principal Software Engineer, WildFire Cloud

Job Description

As a Principal Software Engineer at Palo Alto Networks, you will play a key role in the design and implementation of WildFire® ourthreat intelligence services for public cloud and private cloud features.

You will participate in all phases of the product development lifecycle from definition, design, through implementation and test. Work closely with key stakeholders, Product Line Manager on new feature requests, QA and DevOps on new release deployments and Security Researchers and Data Scientists on new feature requests.

• Bring new ideas to develop security disciplines to solve real-world problems

• Implement real-time security services to our customers

• Establish a clear technical and architectural vision for key projects

• Mentor your fellow engineering members

• Promote best practices such as design reviews, code reviews, secure coding and performance tuning

Qualifications

• Hands-on senior software engineer implementing massively scalable platforms leveraging cloud technologies and distributed systems
• Expert level programming in Python, GoLang, Java and/or C
• Experience designing microservices architecture using containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes
• Demonstrated experience working with Public Cloud Services such as AWS or GCP and designing cloud-native solutions
• Knowledge of the DevOps workflow
• Exposure to using configuration management tools such as Ansible and/or Terraform
• Experience with data infrastructure platforms
• Experience with SQL and No-SQL DB technologies such as MySQL, Redis, MongoDB, Cassandra
• Experience with the queuing system such as RabbitMQ or Kafka
• Experience with multi-threads and multi-processes
• Communicate at a high level and work well with multi-functional teams towardsachieving a common goal.

Salary disclosure required by sb19-085 for positions located in the state of Colorado: If hired in Colorado, this position starts at a salary of $146,600/yr. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary. Restricted stock units and bonus pay may also be offered as part of this compensation package, as well as benefits that include: flexible paid time off, employee stock purchase program, medical, dental, vision, 401K, life, and disability insurance.
