We look forward to hearing from you!We are looking for a Registered Polysomnographer for the Sleep Disorders Center at St. Joseph Hospital Orange.Location: Orange, CAWork Schedule: On Call/ Per DiemShift: 12-hour, NightsJob Summary:The Polysomnographic Technologist (PSGT) works under the supervision of the Sleep Disorders Center Manager, and Lead Polysomnographic Technologist. The PSGT works independently during the day or night and conducts polysomnographic testing. The PSGT safely operates sophisticated medical equipment used to record sleep/wake physiology, explains procedures, prepares patients and applies recording devices. The PSGT monitors polygraph recordings, audio/visual equipment to ensure patient safety, test quality, sleep/wake data and other physiological events. The PSGT may work during the day and is responsible for assisting Lead Polysomnographic Technologist in scoring the sleep studies and preparing them for interpretation by staff physicians.Essential Functions:Demonstrates ability to perform basic and complex polysomnographic procedures, such as baseline polysomnography, nasal CPAP titration and multiple sleep latency tests (MSLT), as defined in department policy and procedure.

Implements therapeutic procedures such as nasal CPAP and supplemental oxygen administration and works with patients to ensure CPAP compliance.

Applies electrodes and recording devices as defined in departmental policy and procedures and ensure artifact-free recording.

Accurately calibrates and maintains equipment.

Completes procedural and computer documentation as outlined in departmental policy and procedure and obtains and records an appropriate patient history.

Prepares entire test for physician interpretation, including stage scoring using Rechtschaffen and Kales criteria and pathology scoring standard guidelines as defined in department policy and procedure.

Coaches/mentors new employees/less experienced staff.

Minimum Position Requirements:Education: Certificate of Achievement in Polysomnography.Experience: 1 year experience working full-time as a polysomnographic technologist or current Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).Licenses/Certifications:Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) in good standing with the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT).

Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.
