Supervisor Laboratory (CLS) - Internal Only

We are looking for a Supervisor Laboratory (CLS) for the Clinical Laboratory at Queen of the Valley Medical Center.Location: Napa, CAWork Schedule: Full time - 80 Biweekly hoursShift: 8 hour, Days (Variable)Job Summary:Provide direction and leadership to a specific laboratory department or shift at Queen of the Valley Medical Center to ensure the highest quality work that meets or exceeds the service expectations of hospital physicians, patients and outpatients.Essential Functions:Works and performs all the duties of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

Provides direction and leadership to and sets written standards for the operations of a specific laboratory department or shift (e.g. Blood Bank, Hematology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Evening/NOC shift, etc.).

Sets standards for, monitors and reports key performance metrics, such as turnaround time, corrected reports, blood bank statistics, etc., and monitors quality of work performed by all staff.

Ensures that errors or other adverse events are appropriately documented and reported as necessary.

On a monthly basis, provides performance improvement data to the laboratory director.

Holds regular staff meetings and ensures that staff who regularly work in the department are kept informed in a prompt and timely fashion.

Ensures that CAP proficiency testing is performed on time and that any unacceptable results are appropriately responded to with corrective action plans.

Sets up new tests using appropriate test development protocols (e.g. NCCLS guidelines) and obtains medical director approval prior to implementation.

Manages and evaluates performance of employees assigned to the department. In addition, documents and performs HML assessments as required.

Develops, implements and monitors specific policies and practices to ensure continuous compliance with applicable accreditation and regulatory standards and regulations. Is familiar with and abides by safety regulations and can lead the lab personnel in the event of a code, fire or disaster.

Ensures new employee orientation and competency assessments are completed on time as required by regulation.

Skills:Current working technical knowledge and skill of the various laboratory disciplines performed in the laboratory (e.g. hematology, chemistry, etc.).

Minimum Position Qualifications:Education : Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science.Experience :3 years of experience as generalist CLS.

2 years of general laboratory supervisory experience.
