Job Description

The Knowledge Base team is a group of engineers, researchers, designers, data scientists, and product managers that are building an in-depth understanding of the unique world of Etsy. Our goal is to build, collect, and model product metadata to make sense of millions of unique items and users, enabling Etsy’s teams to craft meaningful, relevant experiences. We are responsible for describing, collecting, combining and serving product metadata to our internal partners.

On the Engineering side, we are responsible for constructing and maintaining the systems necessary to store, transform, and serve product metadata. Our stack is cloud-native, JVM-based, and relatively new. We are currently working on completing the initial version of our system and making enhancements for our customers as we start our first integrations.

Qualifications

You will do well in this role if you:

  • Are a strong communicator. You recognize that the best systems are built by teams that have strong communication practices, and you have experience nurturing collaboration on teams you work within.
  • Have worked on a service-oriented architecture-based repository
  • Enjoy mentoring others on the team while making continuous process improvements.
  • Have a growth mindset and solve ambiguous problems with many implications.
  • Have experience building and maintaining large JVM-based distributed systems.
