Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Technical Program Manager with strong backgrounds in Lean/Agile software development to lead exciting technology changes in an environment of rapid, iterative implementation!

Do you have consulting experience solving a wide variety of problems, preferably at companies who are in the process of significant scaling? This role is expected to work across a range of high priority projects and programs that are technically complex, and cross-functional in nature between Engineering and Product, Finance, Legal, Marketing and other key partners at the company. This role isflexible by design, meaning its focus will change over time as business priorities shift and we understand where TPM can have the most impact.

Empower teams to meet their ambitious goals. We do this by:

  • Ensuring teams have and execute against well-organized, clearly communicated, actionable plans

  • Helping teams establish, iterate, and reflect on their process

  • Furthering the practice of TPM at Etsy and industry-wide

About the Role

  • Project & Program Management: Lead efforts to identify and manage intricate dependencies, mitigate risks and issues, and build clear lines of communication across teams. Successfully engage with engineers, managers, directors, external representatives, and/or other partners to deliver on project objectives. Ensure the organization has a consistent and clear voice around goals, priorities, progress, and accomplishments.

  • Process Improvement: Actively promote and enable consistent engineering processes and Agile practices, with an emphasis on continuous improvement and self reflection. Focus on consistency across and between teams that promotes alignment and collaboration throughout the organization.

  • Strategic Planning and Operations: Organize and coordinate the team’s planning and goal setting processes, enabling the organization to meet the company wide guidelines and timelines. Help leadership align priorities across the org to create more significant impact.

  • Advancement of TPM Practices: Enthusiastically add to and promote our TPM Community of Practice where we share insights, tools, templates, and lessons learned.

Qualifications

About You

  • 10+ years of proven success in technical project management. At least 5 of which include hands-on experience as part of Scrum or Kanban software development team.

  • A continuous learner who is passionate about the work. Digging deeper to understand root causes. Adapting easily to a continuously evolving environment.

  • Take initiative. Demonstrate a presence at the leadership level. Lead in a way that accepts responsibility without presuming authority. Model confidence, transparency, and humility.

  • Establish an optimistic and collaborative culture across all levels. Value diversity and promote an inclusive and blameless environment.

  • An expert communicator with demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to quickly distill core issues into succinct and tailored messages for audiences across all management levels.

  • Technically strong. Have a deep understanding of and experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
