Every day, our 20,000 employees do the can't be done, solving the most daunting challenges facing our customers. We're seeking a Sr. Principal Linux Systems Engineer to join our Peraton team. The position will be in Annapolis Junction, MD. Your day to day responsibilities may include: • Linux Systems Integration to support deployed and new installations. Qualified candidates will work with other team members on various levels of operating systems, applications and related support in the Linux environment, installing mission application specific software products • Troubleshooting of standard daemons and tools (NFS, NTP, BIND, APACHE, SYSLOG, chkconfig, init scripts, general networking, etc.) • Perform installation of firmware and software for systems • Ensure systems are kept in required configuration profile, including: patch maintenance, changes as required by evolvement of production environments, updating software and software configurations • Assume other duties/projects as they arise and be responsive to the needs of the department • Familiarity with PKI keys • Provide daily status reports on activities completed and current projects AJ2021Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics or similar degree or equivalent documented combination of training and experience. An additional four (4) years of additional technical experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum of seven (9) years' experience in systems engineering
  • Experience working on networks including the administration, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting for the hardware/software for Cisco, Nortel, Adtran and Netgear
  • Proficiency with Linux Operating Systems and Linux commands
  • Scripting experience (shell, Perl, Ruby, Python)
  • Active TS/SCI with poly clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience assisting users on hardware/software issues
  • Experience configuring/maintaining: Kickstart, SSH, DHCP, Bind, Apache
  • Experience resolving problems and setting up supporting networks
  • Experience in information technology operations
  • Experience ensuring license enforcement
  • Working knowledge of PUPPET
  • Ability to understand complex systems with many components
  • Practical experience with YUM
  • Understanding of RPM package format and APT-RPM distribution method
  • Hands-on experience with IBM Blade Centers and Dell servers, HP servers
  • Ability to work core hours on a regular basis
  • Strong technical skills, rigorous, and very "hands-on"
  • Strong problem analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
